Olague surname

I just wanted to see, if anyone in the group is researching the
Olague surname. I am doing quite a bit of research, on the Olagues,
especially in Colotlan. And I am willing, to share information.

We lost a branch to our family tree

This last trip to FHL in SLC has confirmed our dreaded suspicions.
Our linage follows Jose Cresencio Mota married to Rafael de los
Merced Serreno and not Maria de los Merced Serrano. Fortunately the
Serrano linage is okay. Maria de los Merced Serrano parents are Jose
Maria Guadalupe ZERRANO Robles and Maria Casilda MOTA Carlos and our
new Rafael de los Merced SERRANO Albares parents are Juan Jose
SERRANO Robles and Maria Luisa ALBARES. Yes, Juan Jose SERRANO
Robles and Jose Maria Guadalupe ZERRANO Robles are sons to Jose
Alancio SERRANO and Dominga De ROBLES Sanchez.

We have 11 documents for the J. Maria Guadalupe ZERRANO Robles/Maria
Casilda MOTA family. m. 14 Aug 1810

We have 10 documents for the Jose Alanacio SERANNO/Dominga de ROBLES
family, m. 29 May 1781

We have 8 documents for the Jose Crescencio Nepomuseno MOTA/Rafael de
los Merced SERRANO m. 22 May 1852

Is anyone else working on the above lineages? Do you confirm our new
findings? We are keeping the

welcome to the group. I also have a Sandoval line that comes out of
Tepetongo. Unfortuneately I only have one name:

me-->AntonioPuentes-->JulioPuentes-->JulioPuentes-->CecilioPuentes/DomingaVarela-->
-->EsiquioVarela-->VictorVarela/MarcelaSandoval

so my GGGG grandmother out of Tepetongo was Marcela Sandoval

anyway I'm glad you made a possible connection and I would like to keep
track of the various ones that make connections. It just makes me feel
good to see others [including myself] gain some benefit.

My prima, Angie, sent a message out awhile back that summarized the
various ones that made connections. I'll try to hunt it up unless
someone has it handy and can forward it to me. I know for a fact that
there have been new connections made since that time.

One being that which Rosalinda Ruiz and I have made on our Banuelos
line. It seems we have a common grandparents in Jacinto Banuelos/Bartola

How about everyone in the group that

Hola!

Hi! I'm new here so let me begin by introducing myself. My name is
Vanessa Sandoval and i live in Los Angeles, Ca where i was born and
raised. My parents have lives here since 1971 when they left their
home of El Remolino, Zacatecas. I was asigned a few years ago to do a
family tree for a school project and i was so fasinated by all the
history that i guess i never stopped researching.
My Geneology records include the names of Sandoval, Ocampo, Luna,
Perez, Haro, and Saucedo. There's a few more but i guess those are
the primary ones. I will try to upload into the files area what i
have so far, by the end of this week and i have actuall already found
a name in someones file that cross lists with mine :) so i am very
excited about that. Thank you for taking me in and i hope to make
this a very productive experiece.

My Intro

Hi all! Just wanted to take a quick minute and introduce myself.
My name is Peggy Delgado and I'm currently searching for the
surnames of Aguirre (not sure of the spelling), Ynostrosa
(spelling? I know there's different variations of that name!)Correa
and Ortega. Aguirre and Correa in Tlaltenango, Zacatecas, Ortega
somewhere else in Zacatecas and Ynostrosa in Sierra Mojada,
Coahuila. I've ordered microfilms from the FHC for
1914 for Tlaltenango. My grandfather (my dad's dad), Jacinto
Pineda was born there on 8/14/14 to Maria Correa and Baudelio
Aguirre. Story goes that Baudelio went off to fight with Pancho
Villa and was never heard from again. My great-grandma Marie
married Juan Pineda (he supposedly adopted my grandad and gave him
his name, Pineda - but when the got married and where is a mystery.
Baudelio Aguirre is also a mystery....who knows what I'll find with
those FHC films! But I'm very excited.....

Next I'm searching for records of my mom's dad, my

thanks for your hard work in continuing to promote our heritage. Your
efforts, along with others, are a foundation for many of us in finding
our roots, history, and in being able to better understand who we
really are. Thank you.

About the fábrica and the
limosna, the fábrica of a church was dedicated to ongoing construction
or repairs of a church, especially if it was new.  The limosna was also
given to the church for the same purpose, and for other church
necessities.  If it mentions that a limosna was given in a burial, that
means that it's even more humble than a cruz baja, because they could
not even afford the high price of a burial with "cruz baja."  So they
had to settle for the least amount of service.

Yes thanks so much for this. I've wondered about that word "Limosna"
and now I know. But when you say the "least amount of service" I'm
wondering if that also might include what was recorded in the death
certificate. I've noticed that there is are variations in what is
recorded. Mostly if the person was an adult and married he stated as
being casado and the name of the person. If he was widowed - viudo de
name of person. died as a child- parvulo name of parents. But

Cruz Alta y Cruz Baja

As far as I have always known, a burial with "Cruz Alta" meant that you were rich and could afford a sumptuous vigil, mass, procession, and burial.  These cost more and were taken care of in a person's last will and testament. Take a look at the following examples:

abbreviations

The letter B used in that context "yo el B D Fulano de Tal" means Bachiller.  A Bachiller was someone who had received their Bachelor of Arts degree (Baccalaureate), thus a Bachelor (compare: Bachiller/Bachelor).  This title of Bachiller, as well as that of Doctor (roughly corresponding to a Ph.D.) could be obtained by anyone, lay and clergy, as long as they attended a Seminary University, and had the money to do so.  It certified them as being highly knowledgeable about canon law and Catholic religious procedure.

abbreviations

I would like some help with an abbreviation I've found and havent
been able to read... the Bautismo entry reads as follows:

En la yglesia Parrpquia de SS Jose de Guehucar en Onze de Marzo de
Noventa y Ocho Yo el B* D* Jose del Valle Cpp. ........

The abbreviation that is pestering me is the B*.
D* is surely "Don" but the B* may be an abbreviation for a religious
title or something else...??

Que Paso con los Anos 1679 - 1839

I still have not found my grandma Maximina Lopez daughter of Jesus Lopez who should be in those records.  I've looked in Sombrerete and Fresnillo, she would have been born about 1897 and the films are indexed and still can't find her.  I have found other siblings in that time frame.  They crossed over in 1907 so I wouldn't need any records after that time-frame probably 1885-1907, I've researched.  I have found her dad's records etc., and have gone back at least four generations on my Lopez line but I will get back to looking for Maxmina's record again soon.  Also I've done research on my great-grandma Librada Gonzalez (Maxmina's mother) and have gone back a few generations on her lines as well.   Carol

It was Zacatecas, Zacatecas records that were missing. Here is John

"HI
Joseph:  Friends of mine travelled to Zacatecas a couple years ago.
Those missing records were somehow destroyed. General Santa Anna sacked
the city of Zacatecas around 1835, which may have destroyed some of the
records, but there was also a fire, so they are apparently lost
forever, most unfortunately.

Sorry, I couldn't give you good news.  The Matrimonio Informacion

But regular marriage and baptisms aren't in  existence any longer.
