No I'm sorry I don't know any Campos or Alvarez. I actually had
never heard of Momax until just a few days ago, but my Mom knew
about it.

TERRIFIC!!!

thanks much. So am i correct in understanding that if our relatives
submitted anything (app for citizen, app for residency, app for green
card, app for ???) that it would be in a file somewhere? So by
completing this form and sending it in with a "send me all you have"
letter on your grandparents then that is the complete procedure? do you
have to prove relationship? do you have to prove that the individual is
deceased? do you have an idea of how far back in time they have records?

thanks,

joseph

The last one I submitted back in December came in the 1st part of May.  It was well worht the wait, as this young lady had no idea where her father was from and now we have the ranch & all.  I know they are thinking about changing some of the regulations regarding

Freedom of Information Act

you can request that the applications our relatives filled out for US
residency or Citizenship be sent to you. It is possible that if you are
looking for a location in Mexico that these applications might have
that information.

Hi Joseph

I am back from Auagascalintes, and I did bring back there phone book for you. If you can send me your address to my e-mail address I will send it to you. I was so excited, because I did get my grandparents (on my dad's side) death certificate from Encarnacion De Diaz.

Identity Theft Considerations

I definitely agree that living persons' information should not be included in the trees, but the names may be shared if the individual wishes.  However, once a person dies, their SSN becomes public information.  Rootsweb.com has a database with thousands (millions?) of SSNs and names, along with birthdates and death dates.  The Social Security Death Index is updated monthly, so my grandpa's death was noted within two months of his passing.  The files section is limited to members only, but there is nothing to stop a non-member from going to rootsweb.com and discovering the SSNs of those who have recently passed.  The privacy rights cover SSNs of living individuals, but even then, your SSN is easily accessible--  think about how many times and in how many places you have revealed your number.  I always assume that many people will see mine.  I am as selective as I can be, and I have heard many stories about how casually people treat their information.  However, a determined thief may

Identity Theft Considerations

Well I see your point and I'd like to thank you for bringing up the issue.

I can only say that everyone should submit that with which they believe
they can live with in regards to a clear identity theft threat
conscience. If anyone wants to modify their files deleting maiden names
of the mothers of those that are living please do so or ask and we'll
work on it together.

With respect to SS#'s I don't know what to say about that one. I know my
grandparents had SS#'s but I can't figure out what kind of mischief
someone could create if they were to discover their numbers.

Natalie if you or anyone else in the group could give some practical
examples it might help give more urgency as to why we should eliminate
the names of those that have or had SS#'s.

thanks,

joseph

Clarification - names of living persons

What about a person (parent/grandparent) who has died in the past few
years, and had a SS# - if that person is listed on your tree, along
with maiden name of mother ... seems I've read that that is enough
information for someone to perpetuate some kind of fraud or other ID
theft problem (well - some use even less information I suppose). This
is what I am concerned about.
Thanks all for your thoughts on this matter.

Natalie

Names of living persons

no you are right on target!!!!!!!!!!!

don't send in files (reports, charts etc) that have living persons on
them. By all means no SS#'s and if those that have done so are doing so
at their own risk. Not saying anyone on the group would resort to such a
thing but If you allow your living relatives to go here you might have
been doing it elsewhere as well.

no living relatives.

(not sure I answered your question if I didn't ask again and maybe next
time I'll get it).

Nochistlan: Información matrimonial

   From: "Deena Ortiz"
Subject: Re: Sebastian de Vlloa

There are no parents identified in this record. This is a problem that has
become a block wall for me on several lines. For a series of years (about
the first third of the 18th century, 1752, 1785) no parents are identified
for any of the "pretensos" -- the bride and groom -- on the microfilmed
records for marriages in Nochistlan. Since the abuelos were not indentified
in the christening records till the latter part of 1798, where do I turn
without having to make a trip to Nochistlan to break down these walls? So
far I have only looked at the films of matrimonios and bautismos on loan
from the Family History Center in SLC.

~Deena Ortiz~

What do these films reveal? Are they also lacking the parents of the
married? I realize that this might not help Charles since it appears
that 1727 is missing.
