TEST SITE - DO NOT USE - Development only

Way back in 2003 I tested with Ancestry. That was a big mistake. They soon went out of business so the company was no help or use for research. Now that they've started up again I don't trust them. Once burned, twice shy. I won't use them again.

I had my brother tested in 2005, this time with FamilyTreeDNA. I have been very happy with the results, the support, the matching, and the opportunity to obtain more refined tests. I also had a cousin test with FamilyTreeDNA for my mother's father's YDNA.

I tested myself with 23andMe about a year ago and have been happy with the kind of results they test for. It is different than FamilyTreeDNA as they can give you medical information as well as matching opportunities.

My advice it to know what you want, know what you can get, then use the correct testing method to get the desired results.

thank you Armando, my DNA results are based on my mother sister DNA test, myself and my youngest sister. we all seem to reflect the basic findings I talked above. As to your question, whether I want to share my DNA, the answer is yes provided I am assured that by sharing you mean amongst other members who have had their DNA tested.

No se cuantos de ustedes ya hayan leido este informe pero se me hizo muy interesante para todos los del grupo de Nuestros Ranchos especdialmete porque la mayoria descendemos de estos sefardies. La Lista de Apellidos Sefardies en las americas incluye; Ruiz de Esparza, Macias, Hurtado, Mendoza, Avila, Gonzalez, Rodriguez, Barba, Rodriguez para mencionar solo unos cuantos de ellos. En la internet esta una lista completa de todos los apellidos.

España ofrecerá nacionalidad a judíos sefardíes

Descendientes de judíos expulsados por los Reyes Católicos en 1492 podrán beneficiarse de esta iniciativa, que ya ha provocado avalancha de solicitudes en Israel.

El Gobierno español está a punto de aprobar un anteproyecto de ley para conceder la nacionalidad española a los judíos sefardíes que justifiquen tal condición.

Esta modificación de la ley permitirá la doble nacionalidad tras acreditar su origen a través de certificado de la Federación de Comunidades Judías de España (FCJE), de consulados con certificado de la autoridad rabínica competente reconocida en su país o como consecuencia de un expediente personal, donde los propios apellidos, el idioma familiar o cualquier otro indicio probatorio así lo acredite.

La decisión ha despertado un desmesurado interés en los ciudadanos israelíes, que han desbordado con sus consultas los consulados españoles en Tel Aviv y Jerusalén. Según calculan las organizaciones sefardíes, unos 3,5 millones de personas podrían beneficiarse de esta medida.

Hasta ahora sólo podían solicitar la nacionalidad española con procedimientos lentos y farragosos, y renunciando a sus otros pasaportes. Con la aprobación de esta nueva iniciativa, que aún debe votarse en el parlamento, podrán conservar más nacionalidades aparte de la española, además de ampliar las posibilidades de certificación de las raíces sefardíes.

Muchos judíos sefardíes de Israel han comenzado a tramitar traducciones de documentos antiguos para demostrar su pasado español. Los medios israelitas han celebrado estos días esta iniciativa del Gobierno español, que en su opinión "repara un error histórico" cometido contra los judíos. Aunque el gobierno de Israel todavía no se ha pronunciado al respecto, se ve como un acto de buena fe del ejecutivo de Mariano Rajoy.

Juana Dominguez (Married to Juan Macias Valadez, 12 Jun 1683 in
Aguascalientes) was daughter of Juan Hernandez and Ana Dominguez. Juana had at least 6 siblings. In the baptismal records of one of these, Ana is listed as Ana Domingues de los Inojos (Hinojos). I've not been able to locate Juan & Ana's marriage record, to find the names of the Juana's grandparents, so I've hit a road block. However, I found a potential couple: Pedro Alonso de los Inojos and Ana Domingues (died 14 August 1675). Could these be Ana's parents and thus Juana's grandparents? Any help will be appreciated.

I have encountered a brick wall once again regarding my 8th-great-grandparents Bernabe Gonzalez and Salvadora Duran, but as I have gone more in depth in my research I have found many clues that have helped me get around it. I hope you guys can help me put the clues together and help break the brick wall.

Bernabe Gonzalez married Salvadora Duran on Jan 20, 1692 in Nochistlan,Zac,Mex.
I have found five children:

-Maria Gonzalez Christening Date: 08 Jan 1695 Nochisltan,Zac
-Juana Gonzalez Christening Date: 16 May 1698 Nochistlan,Zac
-Andres Gonzalez Christening Date: 23 Jan 1702 Nochistlan,Zac
-Ju. Anselmo Gonsales Christening Date: 19 Apr 1711 Nochistlan,Zac
-Phelipa De Santiago Gonsales Christening Date: 11 May 1713 Nochistlan,Zac (My 7th-great-grandmother) married Jose Antonio Ruiz Cortez from Valladolid (Morelia, Michoacan)on 09 Oct 1731 in Nochistlan,Zac.

I looked over all the baptism documents of their children hoping to find clues, which I think I succeeded. On Maria Gonzalez' babtism, her padrinos are Jacinto Ramírez de Rosales and Margarita Gonzalez. Then, on Ju. Anselmo Gonzalez' baptism, her padrinos are Cristobal Gonzalez and Josepha de Venavides. It seems to me that Bernabe Gonzalez is from the "de la Cruz Bermejo" family since Margarita Gonzalez and possibly Cristobal Gonzalez are Tomas Cruz and Catharina de Sandoval's children. I am only doubting Cristobal Gonzalez since the son of Tomas Cruz, Cristobal Cruz (Gonzalez) married Maria De La Rosa Duran, unless Josepha de Venavides was his first or second wife.

Hope you all enjoy a wonderful July 4th celebration. In keeping with the American Revolution, you will find a few articles on the importance of the Spanish horses on the history and development of the United States.

Yesterday, I had a telephone conversation with my Aunt Alicia. She lives in Stockton. I told her about an incident that occurred during a stay with my Tia Elia in Stockton. I was in 5th grade and cousin Albita in the 3rd grade. Every now and then, Abuelito would give us 5 cents for an after school treat. One Monday he gave each of us 25 cents. We were in heaven. We each decided to get a huge 5 scoop cone with our 25 cent.
Of course by the time we got home, the ice cream was running down our arms, clothes, and shoes, and most was lost on the sidewalk.

My Aunt Alicia asked if I learned anything and how long it took for me to get the message of the experience. I said, by the next day because Every day we walked past the same ice cream store, was a reminder. We were also back to an occasional 5 cents from Abuelito.

Abuelito was an educator in Mexico, a good teacher. He taught me to to plan ahead. The comments and personal observations found in histories of ancestors, current newspaper and magazine articles, can reveal character and teach principles.

You will read of numerous projects underway to record the Latino historic presence from a personal perspective. They are entitled:
Portraiture Now, The Media and Idea Lab, American and Latino Fund, the Latino Americans' Mi Historia project, and Smithsonian Journey Stories.

If we want our story told correctly, we need to tell them ourselves.
Write, record, or videotape,one story at a time, just start.

IN DOING RESEARCH IN THE JALISCO CHURCH RECORDS I FOUND A GREAT AUNT PETRA TORRES THAT MARRIED VALERIO MACIAS ON 2 JULY 1814 AND IT LIST BOTH AS BEING INDIOS. BUT HOW CAN I FIND THE TYPE OF INDIOS THEY WERE. I FOUND THIS IN THE JALISCO CATHOLIC CHURCH RECORDS FROM ENCARNACION DE DIAZ MATRIMONIOS 1778 - 1830 FILM PAGE WAS 503.I HAD HEARD THAT MY RELATIVES WERE AZTEC BUT I HAVE NOT VERIFIED THIS YET.. THIS MY FIRST TIME POSTING ANYTHING SO I DON'T KNOW IF THIS IS THE PROPER FORMAT, ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED. MY ID IS HERJOE59

Una línea que no he podido desarollar son mis octavo bisabuelos, el Lic. Nicolás Tadeo Gómez de Aguilar, Abogado de la Real Audencia de Guadalajara y su mujer Estefana Fernández de Monroy. La novios casaron el 21 de agosto de 1757 en el Sagrario Metropoilitano de Guadalajara. El documento menciona ellos como "hijo lexítimo de D. Roque Gómez de Aguilar y Da. Tomasa Ramírez de Prado" (cuya familia ya se ha mencionado inumerables veces aquí en el foro y evito hablar sobre ellos) e "hija lexítima de D. Antonio Fernández de Monroy y Da. Juana Gómez García." El Lic. era originario de Guadalajara y la novia "originaria del pueblo de Tequila." Ahora la pregunta. Los quienes han estudiado a fondo los Gómez de Aguilar sabrá que Gómez de Aguilar y Gómez García provienen del mismo tronco. Ya que Estefana es Gómez-García por el lado materno, que será el vínculo de consanguinidad? Algún investigador ha encontrado la dispensa de esta pareja? No he logrado continuar la línea Fernández de Monroy, descendientes de la casa de Monroy, parientes del Marqués del Valle de Oaxaca.

As stated before, I am a researcher for a PBS show called Finding Your
Roots, that explores race, culture, and identity through the genealogies and
family histories of notable celebrities.
I am trying to trace the line of Jose de La Lus Ramirez, born March 1781 in
Jerez, Zacatecas, and the line of Joseph Antonio Luciano Caldera, born
December 14, 1755 in El Durazno, Zacatecas, and died Jun 19, 1799 in El
Durazno, Zacatecas.
We're trying to see if we can take these two people's families back to
Spain, which would probably be about two or three generations. We've already
checked the obvious places for records but have turned nothing up, so if
there is anyone with any leads or who would be interested in helping out, we
would be enormously appreciative.
I did some searching on your site and found Miguel Caldera, who has obvious
ties to Spain (through his father) and while it is entirely unknown whether
Joseph Antonio Luciano Caldera is related to him, it could be a lead?
