I am updating my files on Rootsweb.com today. I have over 70,000 names and still have a couple of films to complete. Most records are for the district of Jerez, Zacatecas but some are from Jalisco and Michocan. I submitted each record I recorded so you can see the names, places and padrinos. I hope they can be of help to some of you. I started going through the members names but there are just too many people to not miss someone.
The file name is Mexico and if you go to the surname index hopefully some of the group will find something of interest. Pedigree in text format will give you your lineage, if you put my Father, Aniceto (Chet) Castanon 1921-2009 it will give you my lineage so we can compare ancestors.
I will not be participating as much for a short while due to health issues but will be reading with interest all the wonderful exchanges and information.

I just took a look at the files submitted to our list and found that I have lineage for Monica Arteaga.
My Fathers Castanon family came from the District Of Jerez, Zacatecas and I share lines with Monica. We share both the lines of Rafael Tovar and Eucebia Mejia. I also have in my files Alejo and Paulina Murillo only in my files they are Morillo. I share part of Alejo's line with you. I have my research submitted to Rootsweb.com but am updating today so it may be offline for a day or so.
The best way to search would be through the pedigree in text format. You can compare our lines by doing the same with my Fathers name. Aniceto (Chet) Castanon, 1921- 2009, that will give you all our ancestors in common.
I love it when I can share records, that's what this is all about for me!

Maria Eustaquia Rodriguez.

I would like to mention about the Indigenous Huichole Indians that inhabit the region. Because on my maternal grandparents side, my maternal grandfather has Huichole ancestry. But his wife, my maternal grandmother has Spanish ancestry.
In our pueblo of Huejuquilla El Alto, Jalisco, Mexico, a Belgium Arqeologist by the name of Marie Areti Hers - did an excavation in 1976 at a mountain right at Huejuquilla, and the mountain is called, "Cerro De Huistle (Huiztle." What she found was a Toltec grave site dated back to 100 A.D.
So the Toltecs were present and after the Toltecs, The Chichimeca Indigenous Tribe was in the area. In Zacatecas, there are pyramids called, "La Quemada."
When the spanish arrived to the area, it was "El Capitan Miguel Caldera" and "Nuno De Guzman" expedition. As she states here:

So that might be of some help. What I am curious about is what is the name of the ship/galleon that Capitan Miguel Caldera sailed on to Mexico??
Currently the Huichole Indigenous tribes live in villages that are farther out in the remote areas like Santa Catarina. Some come down from the remote areas and hang out in pueblos like Huejuquilla, Mezquitic and others to sell arts and crafts.

One pueblo near the Huejuquilla, Jalisco area is called, "Tenzompa." Tenzompa existed even during pre-colombian times.
Now also there are the Mennonites in the Zacatecas region. They have two colonies, "La Batea and La Honda," in Zacatecas. They have about three generations in the area.

I think people need to remember there is no such thing as the "pure race". Thereis no such thing. Though there is "limpieza de sangre" I might be super whitein appearacene but have a mxture of peoples that make my ancestry. I thinklots of people say there are no whites in Mexico and then some say the whiteones are not Mexican at all. Mexico is a diversed country of natives and immigrantsjust like any American country. We are all mixed. About 3/4 of the white population inthe US have some native american or african blood. Which says something, just likein Mexico the whites have at least some native or african blood. Altenos are usually regardedas "the old white aristocracy of Western Mexico" I think thats why most of us dont wantto hear the jewish, black or native blood that one might have. Of course this doesnt mean we are 100% of converso or native blood. I have one black line and two nativeamerican lines, and some jewish lines but mostly european, this shows the diverse bac
kground I have. I might have some moorish blood but havent found any yet.

We finally received my brother's Y dna test results, this after additional testing for the SNP backbone study.
Here it is, it's R1b1b2, marker M269. Probably of Basque origins for R1b, b2 most likely originated in Iran.
Anyone in Nuestros Ranchos with these markers??

Yes we are talking about the founding Altenos (non meso americans) of that region as a majority were Western Europeans paternally. As the main topic claims that they were jewish, I am proving as a descendant of one of the settlers and having taking a DNA test that my return was one of the R1b Celtic subclades. Yes there are many different subclades down from R1b, however again restating, the Casillas from Martin Casillas was determined by Nordvert's haplogroup predictor to be Frisian, which is also a designator of Celtic-p language, a second Celtic invasionary group into England, designated by their version of the language. My marker was first identified by Oxford University as the Oesin tribe line prior to National Geographic or Familytreedna testing. So knowing that my family was one of the original Altenos to whom Martin Casillas was given a part of Jalos now known as el Valle de Guadalupe and his people were sent to pacify the land from the
native tribes, I feel confident in saying that the majority of original colonist of this area were of R1b and specifically the land given to was R1b1b2 subclade Frisian Celts-p.
Of the original back bone familes from los Altos, namely Barba, Cabrera, Casillas, Hermosillo to say the least they have returned R1b with their respective subclades, Altantic to other R1b Germanic groups. As posted on www.ysearch.org feel free to check them out... To me it's no coincidence that these like descendants were working together.
(I saw the King Tut special, and read the early forums, potentially R1b, I calculated y group L but I didn't see the twin peak returns which indicate R1b, we shall see what Dr.Hawas finally reveals, very political to say the least).
As we know R1b and their respective subclade is present in about 50% of all Europeans today. Up to 68% Males from Jalisco and Chihuaha seem to be returning same purportional European heritage (I'll have get a break down of y haplos). Zacatecas and Northern Mexicans more substantial middle eastern/medittereanean returns.

While surfing the web for histroy on Lagos de Moreno I found a website for real estate in Lagos de Moreno
and apparently Hacienda San Nicolas is for sale here''s a description, pics included. The stuff about Pedro Moreno
de Ortega are off because this person confused the revolution with independence.
HISTORICAL NOTE: This historical Hacienda began with only 395 acres, but King Phillip II of Spain asked Guadalajara to expand the territory to 1,877 acres on March 2, 1569, only 6 years after Lagos was founded. The main historical value of this Hacienda is that the child Don Pedro Moreno was baptised in the Chapel in this Hacienda. This child later became the insurgent General Pedro Moreno in the Mexican Revolution (during the same time period as Pancho Villa). The home of General Pedro Moreno is still seen here in the downtown area of Lagos de Moreno. During the 1700's, the Hacienda was owned by the influential family Rodriguez of Portugal. Today, it is ready for a new owner. Is it you?
This elegant, well maintained Hacienda is located only 12 miles from Lagos de Moreno, on the highway to Ojuelas and San Luís Potosí, then only 2 miles to the left. The property covers approximately 56 acres, includes a swimming pool, a Plaza de Toros, a large, beautiful Gazebo, a number of small apartments (12 or 13) being remodeled which could be used for tourism (ex-workers quarters to one side of the main home), 2 kitchens, I lost count of the number of bedrooms in the main home, each with it's own bathroom; one very large game room with a bar. It current has a pool table, and a number of tables and chairs. A number of beautifully designed hallways, and patios. The price is firm at $4.5 million dollars. Occasionally I receive requests from people to find lost relatives. The
people that move me the most are those that are searching for a parent
that gave them up for adoption.
Can any of you share some of your genealogy searching skills in advising
how a person would hunt for their birth parents?
The person who provoked my latest interest said she knew her birth
mother was a Maria Rodriguez and grandmother named Ramona and that she
had been born in San Diego. I could only advise her get a good long
distance calling plan and call ALL of the Rodriguez in San Diego in
hopes of finding someone that knew of a Maria with a mother named Ramona.
What else would be good advice to share?
IF Anyone would like to work on a file that would gather several
different techniques for searching for living relatives that would be
great since I have come across many seeking not their genealogy but
rather their missing relatives.

I am researching my maternal 5th great grandparents, Juan Manuel de Villalpando married to Gertrudis de Soto, on 20 Feb 1757 in Teocaltiche, Jalisco, Mexico. They ahd 5 children: Maria Antonia, Maria Alvina, Jose Gregorio, Pedro Joseph, and Luciano Villalpando.
