This is my first post! I am currently stuck on my gggggg grandparents Diego Villalpando and Gertrudis Rodriguez, specifically on my Villalpando line. If anyone can help me find more information about them, their parents and so on I would greatly appreciate it.

This is my sequence:
-Juan Bautista Villalpando christening on 24 Jun 1860 Señor San Jose, Calvillo, Aguascalientes.
Sus padres eran Juan Villalpando y Maria Germana Esqueda. Juan Bautista se caso con Paula Serna ca. 1880.

-Jesus Villalpando nació ca. 1800 en probably in Calvillo, Aguascalientes. Padres Diego Villalpando y Gertrudis Rodríguez. (Jose) Jesus Villalpando se caso con Calistra Hernández hija de Jose Guadalupe Hernández y Maria Antonia Bobadilla, probablemente ca. 1825.

-Diego Villalpando y Gertrudis Rodrigues estimo que se casaron alrededor de 1790.

En esta ocasión quisiera solicitarles su ayuda acerca de un recién descubierto antepasado cuyo nombre es Alonso de Llerena Agúndez, esposo de Catalina Martín y padre de mi antepasada Micaela de Llerena Agúndez o Agundis casada con Andrés de Ortega-Maldonado. He buscado en varias fuentes para saber el nombre de los padres de Alonso de Llerena y la única pista que tengo hasta el momento es que puede ser descendiente de Alonso de Llerena, fundador de Sombrerete, Zacatecas.

En el libro La Gran Propiedad de Cocula de Ávalos por Rodolfo Fernández se habla detalladamente de la familia de su esposa, Catalina Martín, nieta de Francisco Martín "El Viejo" y de Elvira Moreno (descendiente de conquistadores. Como la vista es restringida no he podido conocer su contenido al 100% pero al menos hasta ahora creo que no he encontrado ninguna pista más al respecto.

También quisiera saber si alguien conoce la identidad de los progenitores de Don Juan Gil, esposo de Mariana de San Agustín (hija de Francisco Martín y Elvira Moreno).

Hi, I'm looking for information on a place (a rancho?) called Monte de los Velascos in the late 1700's Jurisdicción of Nochistlán. I'm looking specifically for Manuel Antonio Zevallos de la Barrera, aka Manuel Barrera, who I suspect married (María) Micaela Velasco there, sometime around the 1760s. Nowadays there's a place called Rinconada de Velasco, I wonder if that's how it's called now. Would appreciate any info.

Btw, I'm researching Tecalitán (now Tecalitlán) in south Jalisco. It was just properly founded in the 1780s and lots of people from Nochistlán appear there among the settlers, in case you have any missing lines.

Como muchos de ustedes también desciendo de Don Diego Rangel Peguero, aunque he visto varios temas de discusión se refieren a la descendencia que dejó en Aguascalientes.

El caso es que tengo otros ancestros que eran de los pocos españoles que había en Victoria, Guanajuato, antes llamado Xichú de Indios en cuyas inmediaciones había minas de plata.

Al buscar miembros de la familia Mata encontré un registro interesante en el microfilm #004806008 de bautismos que el día 20 de enero de 1692 se bautizó a Juana María, española, hija de Diego Rangel Peguero y Petrona Enríquez. Hubo cuando menos tres matrimonios de la familia Rangel viviendo en esa población por lo que es una rama que vale la pena tomar en cuenta para quienes investiguen a dicho ancestro.

Hay otro registro de esa familia en San Felipe, Guanajuato:

Alguien tiene información sobre las siguientes familias, la mayoría de Leon, San Francisco del Rincón, o Celaya en Guanajuato, pero con descendientes en la región de San Diego de Alejandría, Ayo el Chico, y Arandas? Las siguientes líneas son solamente las cuales de quien yo desciendo, ya que estas familias solían tener muchos hijos (con la excepción de los Cobian de Busto). Agradecería cualquier información, ya que ha sido más difícil investigar estas familias, ya que los registros de San Francisco del Rincón no han sido indexado por FamilySearch.

El mas antiguo ancestro que he podido localizar es Antonio Cobian de Busto quien caso con Isabel de Tapia en la Ciudad de Mexico el 17 Mar 1717
( https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:939Z-5N9H-K4?i=698&wc=3P62-… ). Su boda también está registrado, pero en 1733, en Celaya donde fueron vecinos, mencionando que su boda se celebró en la Ciudad de Mexico. Ninguno de los partidos mencionan sus padres. Tuvieron al menos dos hijos:

Antonio Maria Salvador, bautizado en Celaya en 1725 con Dn Agustin Sandoval y Dna Manuela Estrada como sus padrinos ( https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:33S7-9G66-GX3?i=584&wc=3V4C… ). Antonio fue teniente de cura de San Francisco del Rincon a medios del siglo XVIII.

More from the Santo Oficio de Mexico​. Here are my notes & links to 2 procesos involving Alonso Macias and other early residents of Lagos. I've only scanned through these and picked up some names, dates & locations; please feel free to read and add to the discussion.

The first is a proceso criminal contra Juan de Morales cc Leonor de Lara, vecinos de Mitique, por "palabras malsonantes," dated 06 Jun 1571 in Lagos. The judge is Alonso Macias Valades, who is also given the title, Teniente de Alcalde Mayor por Su Magestad (img164). Other names: Don Pedro Gobernador (I assume an indian cacique?), Hernando Martel Alcalde Mayor; Gaspar de la Mota Juez de Residencia; Diego de Rivera escribano nombrado; Miguel Loçano Presbitero/ Teocaltiche. Several Indians were called to testify, and the "naguatatos" are named. Thank you again, Alicia, for teaching us the meaning of this word!

The next one is the "Proceso criminal contra Padre Pedro Nuñez Villavicencio cura de Lagos por la supercheria de haver revestido con los ornamentos a dos hombres para decir misa cantada sin tener ordenes."

- Doña Mariana de Velasco 28 muger de Lorenço Padilla Davila hija de Pedro Pacho cc Ana de Temiño;

Maria Del Refugio Ornelas was the daughter of Benito Ornelas (San Diego de Alejandria) and Ana Rita Del Carmen Gascon Barrera. Maria was married to Lugardo Fonceca and their children were born in the 1840's. Any assistance or connection would be welcome!

Juan Zurita Camacho and Geronima de Bedoya married 24 Aug 1623, in Patzcuaro, Michoacan; Juan Zurita (also Surita and Çorita) Camacho was from Albornos, Avila, Spain, son of Alonso Hernandez cc Ursula Jimenez; and Geronima de Bedoya.was daughter of Baltasar Gomez and Catalina Mz (Martinez). They baptized 3 children in Patzcuaro:

1. Nicolas Çorita Camacho Bedoya, b. 27 Jul 1624
2. Ursula Surita Camacho Bedoya, b. 02 Mar 1628, d. 19 Jan 1638
3. Juan Camacho Zurito Bedoya, b. 02 May 1632

Geronima de Bedoya died in Patzcuaro, on 11 Sep 1640. According to her acta, she was extremely poor and was given a paupers burial. Juan Zurita Camacho had been absent for about 4 years (1636).

Their oldest son, Nicolas, was sent off to San Felipe, Gto, when he was 8 years-old (1632), where he was raised by Joseph Calvillo (mayordomo de la Estancia de San Martin), and his wife, Magdalena Gomez. As an adult, Nicolas went by "Juan Gomez de Bedoya," and he married their daughter, Luisa Calvillo Gomez. From their son, Joseph Arias de Bedoya, would descend the families who used the Arias/Gomez de Bedoya surnames in that city. Luisa Calvillo died on 17 Dec 1655, in Aguascalientes.

I'm looking for info on Geronima de Bedoya and on her parents, Baltasar Gomez [de Bedoya] and Catalina Martinez: does anybody have anything on these individuals?

JUAN GOMEZ DE BEDOYA AND ANNA DE CARDENAS

This couple appears to be the source of the Gomez/Arias de Bedoya surname in early Zamora and Patzcuaro, Michoacan.

In his article, "GENEALOGIA DE ALGUNAS FAMILIAS ESTABLECIDAS EN PATZCUARO MICHOACÁN A PRINCIPIOS DEL SICLO XVII" (SomosPrimos, SEP 2001, Issue 9: http://www.somosprimos.com/spsep01.htm#MEXICO), Don Guillermo Padilla Origel gives the family group of Juan Gomez de Bedoya and Ana de Cardenas, but he gives no sources.

Among their children, he names Baltasar Gomez de Bedoya (aka Baltasar Gomez Catalan) cc Catalina Valdes, and he does mention that this couple had a daughter named "Jeronima." I have my doubts that this is the same Geronima de Bedoya who married Juan Zurita (who was born before 1609), as this Baltasar Gomez & Catalina Valdes were baptizing children, 1637-1645. They appear to be her contemporaries.

Hi everyone, any help would be appreciated. I have over 20 records from my 5th Great Grandmother Maria Paulina. Her last name is spelled so many different ways by the priest and scribers. Here are some examples( Sartica, Esatiga, Zartiga, Sastiga, Exartiga, Estatiga, Saxtiga, Exatiga and some gave up and just wrote Sanchez)Does anyone know what the correct spelling would be. Any help would be appreciated.

Maria Paulina was married to Manuel Salvador Roxas.I havent found their marriage record yet but they might have originated from Jalisco and definately settled in Amatlan de Jora, Nayarit.

I have a question about dispensas. The following marriage records (link below) show the marriage of two brothers with two sisters and it mentions that they had “un parentesco de 4to grado”, but that they had been dispensados. I would like to find these dispensas to get some further info from them.

I looked at the www.guadalajaradispensas.com website and I have not been able to find these dispensas. Is there any other place to look for them?
Or is it possible that if a marriage certificate says that someone has been dispensado, maybe that does not necessarily mean that an actual separate written dispensa was always created?

Both marriages took place on May 28, 1714 in Tepatitlan de Morelos, Jalisco. The parents of Pedro and Juan de Dios Baldivia were Juan Valdivia and Petrona Gutierrez de Hermosillo.
I am trying to find the dispensas to find out the ancestry of the Alba sisters.

My grand father Pedro de Alba (christianed as Jose Pedro) wrote a book of his early years in San Juan de los Lagos, and states that he had a younger brother named "Pablo" (could be Jose Pablo, following church customs) and I can´t find any record of his birth. Only thing I can find is his marriage with Maria Josefa Padilla Gonzalez on the 19 July of 1910 in San Juan.
Being younger, he had to be born after 1886 (date of birth of Pedro), Pablo was a shoemaker and actually showed up as "testigo" in one marriage (can't remember which one right now).
Up to now, I have as children of Lamberto Alba & Librada Perez, the following:

Another common ancestral link to the British Royal Family and Nueva Galicia.

I just found an ancestral branch of my family from clicking on the latest news in England about Meghan Markle and Prince Harry. The girlfriend of a British politician made some very ugly racist remarks about Meghan and her pending marriage to Prince Henry. The uproar from these racist commons created a strong backlash, where evidence was submitted showing one of Prince Harry’s ancestral lines.

To make a long story short, it turns out that one of Prince Harry’s ancestral grandmothers (queen Charlotte) descended from a black (mulatto) Portuguese ancestor. Prince Harry’s ancestor is also an ancestor of mine. I had no idea as to this black ancestral line until now. I had this common ancestors parents and grandparents in my records but no further. Prince Henry’s ancestral records show the line going back many more generations to Africa. You just never know when you are going to get lucky and find such a treasure trove. It was only because the girlfriend of the politician had made her racist remarks that this lineage was brought to my attention. For those that would dispute this line, of which there are many, I am not relying on the work of Mario de Valdes y Cocom. Although Mario de Valdes y Cocom claims to have made this discovery, it was actually discovered previously by a group of genealogists who actually show evidence that she descends from this common ancestor six times. Though the fifteen generations are far back, the descent from six generations does make at least a very small imprint if you look at the paintings of her by Sir Allan Ramsay, and by a physical description of her by her physician, Baron Christian Friedrich Stockmar, “a true mulatto face”.

First of all, thank you for accepting me, This is certainly not my field, but I am familiar with research (biological). What I have found so far: My grand father PEDRO DE ALBA PEREZ (1887-1960), was born in San Juan de los Lagos, Jalisco since he was fairly educated, wrote a fair amount on several themes, and one of them was his child growing times, but no dates. So I know the names of his brothers and sisters, but no dates, am pretty sure all born in San Juan, although the family was accoustomed to moving around (but not very far). Brothers and Sisters: TIMOTEO, SALVADOR, PABLO, MARIA DE LA LUZ, CATALINA, ADELAIDA, GUADALUPE (I know she was a teacher and a school nearby has her name -need to ask if they have a biblio).Great-grand father (JOSE) LAMBERTO (DE) ALBA JIMENES (bat 1853, married 1880, d. ?) married LIBRADA PEREZ MUÑOS (b. ?, chris. 1863, d. ?) in San Juan de los Lagos, Jalisco.
It is clear to me that the (de) subscript was used rather loosely, and maybe only to note that it came from a "spanish" (vs. indian or criollo), I am a bit unsure about the spelling of ALBA, I have seen it with ALVA, so I am not sure if they are the same in the mind of the scribes that registred the bautisms.
I have found www.familysearch.org, very helpful, and although I have published my tree in www.geneanet.org , but the search engine is very poor (but found a tree by a UNAM resarcher that shows (JOSE) BLAS (DE) ALBA PERES (father of Lamberto) no (de) in the names).

I’m new here and sort of new to family research and have run into a few brick walls in my direct line. One of them is an Augustin Flores de la Torre cc Cathalina de Bargas Castaneda. They were Spanish and probably born between 1680-1690 in Milpillas and the records are coming out of Teul in Zacatecas. I descend from their daughter Francisca Flores de la Torre married to Martin del Muro. She’s either their first child or the first child I’ve found a record for, but she was baptized in Teul on 20 May 1706.

perez ornelas y maria praxedis cornejo, patricio cornejo y lucia enriquez y
epifanio perez y felipa hernandez. por lo que he escuchado e investigado la
rama de los perez son de jalos o de teocaltiche y los de alba de san juan de
los lagos. la familia perez de Alba se dio origen en los ranchos de la
estancia, santa isabel las tortugas, etc, entre Jalos y teocaltiche.

As I understand it, houses or households are separated by a long line. But there are a few symbols that I can't figure out, such as those found in this image:

The names have a cross next to them--does this mean the person has been confirmed?

There's also a symbol that looks like the Greek letter PSY. Sometimes it's next to a name and other times it's given by itself at the end of the household.

There's also a number that sometimes is given at the end of the household, but I can't figure out what this refers to. Sometimes it's next to a name and other times, next to the symbol that looks like the Greek letter PSY.

Any input would be helpful.

I was looking at microfilm of Escrituras:
Escrituras 1691 - 1738
Film/DGS # 169054

I only looked at the first few pages as immediately I was reading a lot of interesting things and how the seals/stamps that were on the escrituras. I only read the first few pages because I ended up chatting about geneology with one of the aides at the LDS center that was helping me make copies. The title of the microfilm is:

But when I first began reading the first pages I was seeing escrituras dating back to 1598!! I wrote down some notes on what one said, "Bellade San Felipe 28 de Septiembre 1598 Trespaso Valle de San Francisco, Juan Diaz Domingo Palacios. Hacienda de Domingo Gallegos 1597" as example. I liked the seal/stamp I saw on another escritura year 1707 and made two copies of it:

I am looking for the Escrituras of my GGGGGGG Grandfather Antonio Madera (1660 - 1709) from Minilla, Mezquitic, Jalisco, Mexico area. His wife Maria De La Canderlia (1655 - 1735) had left a testamento at Monte Escobedo, Zacatecas, Mexico.

Notes on orthography and abbreviations used:

As this is a transcription, I’ve attempted to stay true to what I see written. This means using the spellings and abbreviations of names used during that era - though without the superscripted text. Most of it is intuitive: “Juo” for “Juan,” “Frnco” for “Francisco,” “Ma” for “Maria,” “Cata” for “Catalina,” “Mn” for “Martin,” “Xo” for “Cristobal,” etc.

Other abbreviations used:

“come” = comadre
“compe” = compadre
“dha/dho” = dicha/dicho

Notes:

The pages, Pinos 31 & 32, have no headers, date, location, nor signature of cura nor notary. Appears to be a different notary, and likely from a later date (date on previous image was 29 Jan 1627). I say that, since many of these children were baptized at later dates, some as late as 22 Apr 1634. I’ll have to cross-reference these with other records, to get a fix on the date, but for the time being, I’m going to use the date, June 1634. The edges of the pages are torn, so some names don’t appear.
