Hi Everybody,

My Name is Geri Shuster(Manriquez) and I have been a member for quite awhile. I have sat in the background and watched, listened to comments, questions. I am a little nervous but am ready to ask for help from those of you on this site that are so very generous.
I know that my Grandfather was Serapio Manriquez (from my dad's Juan B.'s birth record) Serapio was b:14 Nov 1896, Lerdo, Durango, Mexico? I found this on his death record 13 Feb 1932 Clemenceau, Yavapai Co, Arizona) However, I can not find any information about him in Mexico, only records after he came to the U.S.(border crossing in 1916). My grandmother, his wife was Francisca Badillo (Vadillo on her death record) which was filled out in the presence of her Mom and Dad(Francisco Vadillo and Cruz Alvarez). I am not able to find her birth, baptism, or their marriage records. I suspect the names are what is holding me back. I have talked with living relatives and they were not known by any other names. (I have tried to add Maria and Jose of course)

I have gone back all the way to Spain on the Manriquez tree, however can we be sure that it is the right tree without verification of birth record or something that ties us to that line without proof?

The videos are in spanish, but I think they can be of great help for those who are just starting in the amazing world of genealogy, and even those who have done this for a while may benefit from these videos by learning something new or remembering something we forgot. the link is:

Estoy buscando mis ramas paternas que en el siglo XVIII se desenvolvían en la región de Arándas, Ayo el Chico, Santa Ana Pacueco, Gto.y en el s. XIX por el norte de Michoacán.

Mi abuelo paterno se llamó José Pablo Roberto Francisco Peredo Aceves y de él he podido llegar por su línea paterna a José María Pantaléon de Peredo que casó por 1785 con Ana María Merenciana González de Hermosillo muy probablemente en Arándas, ya que ella era vecina y al parecer originaria de ahí mismo, ya que la he encontrado siendo madrina todavia soltera ahí en Arándas en 1783.

He encontrado que en Arándas por esos años vívían varías mujeres coetáneas de mi 5a abuela y eran hermanas entre sí, todas hijas de Joseph González de Hermosillo y de María Candelaría Hernández Gamiño; he encontrado las bodas de ellas en las que se menciona el nombre de sus padres, sin embargo, la boda de mis quintos abuelos no la he encontrado para confirmar que era hija de los mismos padres que las otras aunquue me parece muy seguro que así fuera.

Es el caso, que una de las otras González de Hermosillo, llamada María Candelaria casó ca 1780 con Don Juan Bautista Andrés Aceves al parecer ahí mismo en Arándas ya que ahí nació su hijo Don Juan José Aceves por 1783-según declaró al casarse a los 24 años- ane Arándas el 18-May-1807. De esta pareja descendió Feliciana Aceves Villarruel que fue la madre de mi abuelo Don Pablo.

Por lo anterior, ambas familias de González de Hermosillo originarias de Arándas y al parecer del mismo tronco de Don Joseph González de Hermosillo y María Candelaria Hernández Gamiño volvieron a unirse 80 años después en La Piedad, Mich., al casarse mi bisabuelo Braulio Peredo Hernández(Gamiño)con Feliciana Aceves Villarruel.

Tengo ya dos o tres años atorado en Arándas por 1780 y no he podido pasar de ahí, es decir, hasta ahí llegué con los Peredo e igualmente con los Aceves, ojalá alguien me pudiera ayudar a saltar una generación más atrás, ya que tengo muchos datos de ambos apellidos anteriores y creo que sólo me falta un eslabón para conectarlos.

A continuación brevemente relato la rama de Aceves en cuestión:

You mentioned you will be researching PARES.  It's a very interesting site, but I've never found how to confirm that the info you find for the name entered in the search, is the person you need; especially if one's prior knowledge on the person is limited to name, place of origin (no birth dates), and maybe parents' names.  Please share your PARES research experience with us. 
I hope you crack the "Spanish code"!  Have you ever tried ascagen.es?  It's specifically for Cantabrian genealogy.

Does anyone know what the lines and dashes mean in the 1759 Padron of Tepatitlan?

I'm guessing that Po. and Pa. mean Parabulo/a and CC might mean cassado, but there are some people with one C and three C's. I can't figure out what the lines and dashes mean as some people have two dashes others have one, and some have no dashes. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated!

Hi everyone!

My research for the past two years has been inspiring for me but I have holes in my research.

My great grandmother was Adelaida E. Nandino, born in Calveras, CA in 1852.

I am researching her family who all lived in Cocula, Jalisco, Mexico. Adelaida's brothers were Espiridion Nandino and Jose Nandino, a sister Francisca who married Manuel Munoa. They bought a huge ranch in Calaveras called the Munoa Ranch.

Ysabel Sevilla was my great great grandmother. I really would love to learn about her and her parents. Her parents were: Jose Blas Sevilla, christened Feb. 08,1780 in San Miguel, Cocula,Jalisco, Mexico. Jose's father was Josef Antonio Sevilla. Ysabel's mother was Maria Nicolasa Ybarra who married Jose Blas Sevilla.

I wanted to know if they were originally from Spain seeing the last name Sevilla?Ysabele Sevilla had a son named Jose Nandino, born 1832, married Refuzia Valanzuela on Sept. 11,1884 in Calavera, CA. Refuzia was born in 1839. I would like to learn about Ysabele Sevilla, her son had said her maiden name was Ichano but cannot verify it. I know her last name was Sevilla in the 1900 census.

It would be great, like a dream wish come true if somebody out there could help me at last with any onfo. on them. They all were from there, huge family! There must be church records, newspaper articles, cemetary markers, possible photos from a family member who is from there. I would be thrilled if someone could help me, I am a new member and need support!

Hola Members/Primos,I was wondering who was the Father of Jose Munoz de Nava married to Micaela Gomez de Mendoza on Feb.10,1716 ,Tepatitlan -Jalisco catholic church records matrimonios 1686-1735 image 157,which gives no indication who is Father was but only that they were parientes al cuarto grado . It states though one of the Padrinos is Leonor Gomez de Mendoza (I suspect is Micaela 's sister). Javier Sanchiz Ruiz-Geneanet-has a Jose Munoz de Nava listed as son of Francisco Munoz de Nava(born 1651 in Teocaltiche) and Leonor Ramirez de Hermosillo, who shows no indication of a marriage of Jose. There is another Jose Munoz de Nava listed as son of Francisco Munoz de Nava(born april 21,1654 Aguascalientes) and Margarita Tiscareno,who is stated Jose to to be married to Micaela Gomez de Mendoza. Familysearch.org has the opposite Jose Munoz de Nava,listed as son Francisco Munoz de Nava and leonor Ramirez de Hermosillo, married to Micaela Gomez de Mendoza. In short how does one fig
ure out who Jose Munoz de Nava Father was ? Death records of Jose Munoz de Nava- Jalisco-Jalostotitlan -Defunciones-1750-1768 image 223-Jan. 17,1761 show no parents just Micaela Gomez de Mendoza.

El día de hoy me gustaría abordar el tema de los Lozano de Aguascalientes, especialmente de Christobal Martínez Lozano. La primera pregunta es si alguien sabe si el apellido es compuesto. Diferentes fuentes lo tienen como Christobal Martínez Lozano o simplemente como Christobal Martin Lozano o Christobal Lossano. Hasta ahora todos los hijos que he encontrado tienen el apellido Lozano solamente.

He encontrado su defunción el 13 de mayo de 1646. Dice que dejó testamento, pero el índice de testamentos del Archivo Histórico de Aguascalientes no parece tenerlo. Alguna idea?

Yo desciendo de su matrimonio con Maria de Isla por medio de su hija, también llamada Maria de Isla quien casó con Juan de Araisa Medina (el viejo). Pero no he podido encontrar la fecha de su matrimonio. De Juan de Araiza Medina sé que murió en 1665 y encontré su testamento. Estoy trabajando en una transcripción. Aparentemente era de Zacatecas, hijo de Fernando de Araisa y de Maria de Gusman.

Tampoco he podido encontrar datos sobre el año de nacimiento de Christobal, ni de su esposa, ni de su hija.

This morning I would like to take on the topic of the Lozano family of Aguascalientes, especially Christobal Martinez Lozano. Mi first question is if anyone knows if the last name is a compound name as in Martínez-Lozano. The reason I ask is because I have found is written at least three ways. One place has him as Christobal Martin Lozano, and another as Christobal Lossano. All his children bear only the last name Lozano, as far as I have found.

I have found his death record: he died 13 May 1646 in Aguascalientes. It says he left a will, but the Aguascalientes Historical Archive index of wills does not seem to have it. Any ideas?

I am a descendant of his marriage with Maria de Isla, through his daughter also named Maria de Isla. She married Juan de Araisa Medina (the elder). But I have not been able to find their marriage date. About Juan de Araisa I know that he died in 1665 and have found his will, written 1664. I am working on a transcription. Through the will I have found that Juan was the son of Fernando de Araisa (the elder) and Maria de Gusman from Zacatecas.

However, I have been unable to find any clues as to Christobal's birth year, or those of his wife and daughter.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hello, I am looking for information on the Nandino family in Cocula,Jallisco. The Nandino family comes from Jalisco to Calaveras, CA in 1850 to mine gold.

The mother, Isabel (Ichano) Sevilla was born in 1811 in Cocula. She married Juan Antonio Nandino on October 11, 1827 in San Miguel Jalisco.

Her father's name was Jose Blas Sevilla.

One of Isabele's children was named Jesus Nandino. Jesus Nandino married Pedro Renteria.

Their children were: Manuella Renteria
Atilane Renteria
Pedro Renteria
Frederico Renteria

Does anyone have any information specifically on any of my ancestors? name of church where they married or cemetary where they died or anything at all?

I have reached a block wall with my maternal line and could really use some help.

I am attempting to find my ancestors on my Rodarte line.

My great grandmother was Maria Rodarte, her parents were SABINO RODARTE and CIPRIANA LOPEZ. The other children they had were Maria, Virgina, Felipa, Pedro, Faustino and Antonio. I have been unable to locate any info any further back that Sabino Rodarte and Cipriana Lopez. The lived in San Buenaventura, Coahuila which were most of their children were born. I know that they are also related to the Rodarte bullfighter family. Maria Rodarte was my great grandmother. She had children from JESUS SIFUENTES

Their births range in the 1880's.

Your assistance and info would be deeply appreciated

I have found the phrase "dejó a cada una de las mandas forsosas" followed by an amount of money in several death records and wills.

Does anybody know what "mandas forsosas" means?

1)Alguien tiene el acta de matrimonio de Joseph de Santana con Juana Bueso?
Creo que ella es Juana Lopes-Bueso, hija de Nicolás Lopes-Bueso y de Nicolasa Guerrero y Ocón. Pero no he podido probarlo, porque no he encontrado su acta de matrimnio.

2)Asimismo, en 1719 tengo a un Joseph de Santana que casó en Tuxcacuesco con Efigenia de Zambrano. En su acta matrimonial dice que es viudo de Maria Gonzalez-Corona. Pienso yo que éstos dos Josephs de Santana son la misma persona. Pero tampoco he podido el matrimonio en Tecolotlán pues faltan fechas y los documentos en Tuxcacuesco están revueltos.
Alguien tiene el acta de Joseph y Maria?

3)Por último ha y un Capt. Joseph the Santana como testigo de varios bautismos en Autlán alrededor de 1700.

I have a question about the identity of Joseph de Santana at the end of the 17th century and beginning of the 18th.
1)Does anyone have the marriage certificate for Joseph de Santana's marriage to Juana Bueso? I am almost positive she is Juana Lopes-Bueso, daughter of Nicolas Lopes-Bueso and Nicolasa Guerrero y Ocón, but I can't prove it yet.

2) In 1719 a Joseph de Santana married Efigenia de Zambrano in Tuxcacuesco. It says he is a widower of Maria Gonzalez-Corona. I think these two Josephs are the same person does anyone have his marriage to Maria Gonzalez-Corona?

3) Lastly, I also have a Capt. Joseph de Santana as a witness at several baptisms around 1700 in Autlan.

Hello, I am trying to find more information on one branch of my mother's family. Starting from my great - grandfather (Jose Marcial Medina B:29 June 1907 in San Jose de Guadalupe, Zacatecas married to Micaela Salazar (Castaneda) from Rio Grande, Zacatecas). Jose Marcial Medina's dad is still unknown but his mother was (Maria Josefa Medina - Delgado B:26 November 1871 in San Jose de Guadalupe, Zacatecas). My great great grandmothers parents were (Andres Medina- Vasquez B: about 1838) and (Maria Bernabe Delgado - Lozano B: about 1834). Andres Medina's parents were Ysidoro Medina and Elena Vasquez however besides this information I have not been able to find anything else on them and I would like to know more since this last name is essentially the pride of my mother's family however we do not know where it came from and I would like to know more about it and this family. Thank You! to anyone who took the time to read my post.
