Hello all, I found out that this alteno family who settled in Penjamo, Gto. originally came from Queretaro, MX. Mariano Gonzalez Leal doesnt mention this not sure why.
I found don Alonso Galvan de Rojas II baptism
18 Nov 1622 in Queretaro, Queretaro, MX
his brother Juan Galvan de Rojas 5 jan 1612 also in Queretaro.
Have not found the 3rd brother Gonzalez Leal mentions, Pedro Galvan de Rojas.
This family eventually made it to Los altos. Alonso II married twice, Luisa Gonzalez de Ruvalcaba, aka Luisa de Rodas. and then to Ana Lopez y Ramirez aka, Ana de la Rivera, Ana de Liebano, Ana Rubio, Ana.

i'm trying to figure out where francisca dosal was born in order to find a baptism record for her. if i'm reading the marriage record(the link above) correctly, she's from some place called san gregorio in the state of chihuahua, but i can't seem to find a place called san gregorio in familysearch's chihuahua category.
francisca dosal would be my great uncle manue's great grandma on his dad's side.

I can’t understand the marriage references to Joseph Gonzalez de Hermosillo and Gertrudis Romero. It looks like she is the daughter of Lucas Romero de Chaves and petronila Gonzalez de Hermosillo but the record says she is Gertrudis Romero de Mora or Zamora.
Can someone clear this up for me?

No, Leticia. All LDS films do NOT have Batch numbers, - - - and the Librarians at the Family History Center we both frequent tell me that there is no Cross-Index list for Film #-to-existing-Batch numbers.
But Lynn Turner (of LDS in Salt Lake City and a member of this Forum) could set us straight if this is in error !
As to the Film Numbers that you inquired about (#291844, #291845, and #291846) of Silao, Guanajuato, I think they relate to church records of the Santiago Apostol Parish and I do not believe they have respectrive Batch numbers.
I do have 6 Batch Numbers/Film#s for the Santiago Apostol Parish in Neutla (ranging from 1719 to 1843) - - - if it is the same - - - that I can provide you, if they relate to your search.

Hola a todos los genealogistas:
Encontré una carta dirigida por Gregorio de Quintana desde Pánuco de Zacatecas a su hermano Juan de Molina en Ríoseco el día 6 de marzo de 1675. Se encuentra en libro "Cartas Privadas de Emigrantes a Indias" de Enrique Otte, F.C.E., México, 1988
En dicha carta Gregorio le informa a Juan que es administrador de unos grandes señores y que eso le ha permitido acomodar en empleos tanto a conocidos como a otros no conocidos y por eso llama tanto a Juan como a un hermano licenciado llamado Francisco de Quintana casado con Doña María Laso de la Vega recientemente. Pide que se saquen ejecutorias ante el "alcalde de hijosdalgo".
Me parece que algunos compañeros han estudiado a la familia Molina, con motivo de Don Luis Tiscareño de Molina y a la familia Quintana de Zacatecas.
Otras cartas que pudieran resultar interesantes son:
Gregorio Ruiz desde Guadalajara a su padre Pedro Ruiz en Valhermoso.
Gabriel Ramírez en Zacatecas a Bernardino de Madrid en Illescas.
Gonzalo García de la Hera en Zacatecas a Diego Pérez en el Pedroso.
Gaspar Mejía en Zacatecas a su mujer Catalina Domínguez en Dos Hermanas.
Gaspar de la Rúa en Fresnillo a Alonso Hernández en Sevilla.

Hola a todos los genealogistas:
En Querétaro a finales del S. XVI vivió Don Francisco de Saldarriaga, y dejó una propiedad en San Pedro de la Cañada, que actualmente puede verse en el mapa de el Municipio del El Marqués, Querétaro.
El apellido como tal sobrevivió dos generaciones y luego desapareció, fue hasta el Siglo XIX que vuelve a existir información, ya que en la misma propiedad (que es una casa antigua con arcos al frente, vivió el célebre salteador de caminos Jesús Arriaga, alias Chucho el Roto (un émulo de Robin Hood que asaltaba las diligencias y socorría a los desamparados).
Al tratar de localizar descendencia de la familia en cuestión, a fines del siglo XVI y principios de XVII encuentro dos posibilidades, pero ninguna la he podido comprobar:
1. Que se encuentre relacionado de alguna manera con la familia Brambilla Arriaga que también tenía actividades en Querétaro y San Miguel de Allende.
2. Que se relacionen con una rama de los Arriaga que existía en Tepetitlán, Hidalgo pues algunas familias del pueblo de San Pedro de la Cañada tiene ramas en esa población hidalguense, pues ambas se encontraban en una ruta comercial.
Don Francisco llegó a escribir su nombre como Cal de Arreaga.
Agradeceré cualquier opinión, comentario o aportación para redondear la historia de Don Francisco.

Hi, I would like to know if there are any padrones (census) for the towns of San Martín de Hidalgo (also known as San Martín de la Cal), Cocula, Ameca, or Zacoalco de Torres. All of these towns are located in central Jalisco, and the majority of my ancestors lived in these municipalities. And I would also like to know if there are any "Tierra y Aguas" (Property and water rights records) for these communities, or where can these microfilms be located.

Me gustaría saber si alguien puede informarme sobre la nueva información que he visto donde se establece a Sancha de Velasco, esposa de Alfonso Ruiz de Temiño, como hija de Sancho Sánchez de Velasco y María Enríquez de Lacarra. Según mis notas basadas en estos foros de hace unos años estos datos eran posibles pues no había un documento que lo expresara. Sin embargo vi una publicación reciente en este sitio donde se refieren a Sancha de Velasco con su segundo apellido como de Lacarra, no recuerdo cuál fue pero también hay un árbol genealógico en línea que liga a Sancha de Velasco con esta pareja y como precisamente no son fuentes cien por ciento confiables es que les hago esta pregunta:
¿Está confirmado este parentesco con algún documento encontrado en fecha reciente?
Ahora bien, si esto fuera cierto la genealogía de Doña Sancha que se establece en este árbol genealógico en línea resulta muy interesante, pero como también observé en mis notas es que la filiación a su vez de sus padres no estaba del todo clara. Gracias a una publicación de Daniel Méndez de Torres en el 2010 es que se piensa que Don Sancho era hijo de Don Pedro Fernández de Velasco porque el último fundó un mayorazgo para su hijo Sancho, a quien identificaba como su tercer hijo y poseedor del título de Señor de Arnedo. Aunque las probabilidades son grandes no se confirma con esta información que Sancho Sánchez de Velasco casado con María Enríque de Lacarra sea el mismo.
Les agradezco alguien me pueda actualizar con la nueva información en el tema.

The Genealogy of Francisca de Narváez
28 Oct 1654 - 4 Apr 1739
Doña Francisca de Narvaez was the matriarch of the Sanchez de la Mejorada line, of Sierra de Pinos: even though she never married, from her descend all families, using that surname, born in and around Pinos after 1698. The fact that she never married, makes her a challenge to research, because of the lack of marriage records, and the lack of baptism records for legitimate children. But, with the discovery of the San Luis Potosi padrones, as well as another group of documents, I believe I’ve established the origin of Francisca de Narvaez.
First, some background:
Francisca de Narvaez had at least 4 natural children, all who were born in SLP, and who would raise their families in Sierra de Pinos:
1. Capitan Francisco Sanchez de la Mejorada Narvaez, m1. Ysabel Ruiz de Villaseñor, m2. Margarita de Cuevas, 25 Jan 1720, San Matias, Pinos, Zac.
2. Antonia de Narvaez, b. 26 Jul 1682, Sagrario SLP; m. Miguel Mendez de Sotomayor
3. Antonio Sanchez Narvaez, b. 01 Sep 1692, Sagrario SLP; m. Gregoria Mendez de Sotomayor, m. 31 Jan 1720, San Matias, Pinos, Zac. Carpintero de oficio.
4. Luis Sanchez de la Mejorada Narvaez, m. Antonia Gomez, 04 Feb 1722, San Matias, Pinos, Zac.
According to their marriage records, Francisco Sanchez and Antonio Sanchez were hijos naturales of Francisca de Narvaez and of Cristobal Sanchez, Español. I've been unable to locate Cristobal Sanchez; he might be the same who was married to Simona Torres, and who baptized Angela, 27 Mar 1674, Sagrario SLP, but I've been unable to establish any link. Those 2 drop off the map. Whoever he was, Cristobal Sanchez and Francisca de Narvaez apparently continued their relationship over a long period of time, since Francisco and Antonio Sanchez were born 18 years apart.
On his marriage record, Luis Sanchez is hijo natural of Francisca de Narvaez and father- unknown, yet he and his descendants would use the "Sanchez de la Mejorada" surname. From a dispensa, we know that Antonia de Narvaez is his sister. She also used “Sanchez” on one occasion, so they might also be natural children of Cristobal Sanchez.
I'm trying to help my grandpa's half brother trace his father's side of the family. He unfortunately doesn't know the names of his paternal grandparents. His father Manuel Saldana was probably born sometime during the 1890's possibly somewhere in Jalisco(i'll get into that a bit later).
Back in early June, I dna tested him and finally got the results earlier this week. He had some second cousin matches that didn't match my grandpa at all, indicating that they are related to him through his dad Manuel's side. I emailed this person, and found that those matches(who happen to be full siblings) relate to my great uncle through their dad's side. It was also mentioned that their paternal grandfather came from jalostotitlan, and that their paternal grandma's mom was from some place called Rios Bolivos in Jalisco(which i can't find where in Jalisco that place is). I've tried looking for a Manuel Saldana in the Jalostotilan church records with no luck. It would be awesome if i could trace his dad's side as well, since I've been able to trace my great grandma Lupe's ancestry several generations further.

I have the maternal grandparents of the Conquistador Juan de Villasenor Orozco as Diego de Orozco, Comendador de Poza-Rubia en la Orden de Santiago, (son of a Rodrigo de Orozco y Mejia, Comendador de Villa Hermosa, OR son of a Fernan Ruiz Iniguez de Orozco) and Guiomar de Sandoval (daughter of Pedro de Sandoval and Catalina Fernandez).
Does this match anybody else’s notes?
Part 2:
I am working on a potential descent from the Conquistador Juan de Villasenor Orozco’s son Juan de Villasenor Cervantes, husband of Catalina Corona.
I have seen nothing directly naming Catalina’s parents but I have found one clue about her relations:
Catalina Corona, also called Catalina Gonzalez Corona, is said to be a first cousin of the wife of a Diego Hurtado, “homonimo del escribano famoso de Nueva Galicia”. I am not sure who this particular “Diego Hurtado” is, nor do I know the name of his wife, so piecing together Catalina’s lineage is proving to be difficult.
Does anybody know of any other clues regarding Catalina Corona’s background?

Martín Muñoz, casado con Dolores Aguilar en El Sagrario de Aguascalientes, Aguascalientes el día 24 de diciembre de 1831. Batch M60486-2
Ellos fueron padres de los siguientes hijos, todos bautizados en Aguascalientes: de María Sabina del Refugio (1o. enero de 1833) Marcelino (15 de noviembre de 1840), José Julio (25 de diciembre de 1842).
Ésta familia pasó a vivir a León, Guanajuato. en donde pereció Marcelino en la inundación de 1896.
De manera que agradeceré cualquier información para localizar a sus padres, para poder saber su origen geográfico. Gracias de antemano.
