saludos,

susana

Hello everyone,

I just found the marriage information for marriage dispensation from Juan Joseph de Llanos and Marcela (Marcellina) Ramos, widower of Juana de Silva. In this marriage dispensation Juan Joseph declared that he was from the city of Madrid, in the Kingdoms of Castile, and his parents were Felipe de LLanos y Valdes and Angela Agilera (Aguilera?). In this document , according to the declaration of the mother of Marcelina Ramos- Estefania Ramos, establishes without doubt that JUANA DE SILVA IS NOT JUANA DE AVILA. Is it possible the existence of two Juan Joseph Llanos y Valdes? One of them married to Marcelina Ramos and Juana de Silva, the other married Juana de Avila (this marriage there are many offspring). I've seen in some trees online that have the father of Juan Joseph is Juan de Llanos y Valdes and Maria Diaz de Comparan, which is the source that established this relationship? It is also possibe that Juan Joseph married three times and that the information about Juan de Llanos Valdes and Maria Diaz is erroneous. The matrimonial dispensation is quite clear.

Regards,

susana

Juan Antonio García and Adulfa Tadea Briceño

I'm curious if anyone has any information on this couple from Jerez, Zacatecas, Juan Antonio García and Adulfa Tadea Briceño. They would've married sometime around 1762. They had five children that I know of, all born in Jerez, Zacatecas between 1764 and 1774. Any information that anyone might have would be greatly appreciated.

Dear Friends and Primos:

With so much talk about the importance of the Hispanic/Latino vote in the upcoming election, our presence still seems to be somewhat invisible, historically and currently.

There are several articles on that subject under United States. Also, on the subject of invisibility, don't miss, the two articles, El
Vaquero: Missing in US History written by Joe Lopez.

The heritage project, The Spanish Presence in Americas Roots, SPAR is moving forward. I am serving as CEO, Co-chaired by Judge Edward Butler.
We will soon have a website in place. We are trying to prove the historic presence of our antepasados in the history of the United States and the Americas.

Have you had your DNA done? Do you have indigenous markers? SPAR would love to hear from you. My maternal mitochondrial DNA is indigenous, plus I also have indigenous lines on my paternal side. SPAR would like to prove that we with southwestern Mexican heritage are living proof that the early history and foundation of the United States was formed primarily by families of mixed southern Europeans and indigenous heritage.

SPAR welcomes interest, support, and involvement of any nature, a paragraph, a sentence, or a family story which emphasizes the fact of your mixed heritage would be very welcomed. If you have questions, comments, please email or call me: Thank you for caring that our story be told.

Warmly, Mimi Lozano

Esteban Nieto and Ana Rodriguez aka Diaz

The discussion regarding the Nieto Corona's got me looking at my Nieto line which originates in Valle de Armadillo, SLP with Esteban Nieto and Ana Rodriguez she is also listed as Ana Diaz. One of their sons Agustin Nieto married 3 times. First to Angela del Castillo on 2 July 1691 in Armadillo, second to Felipa de Cervantes 11 September 1703 and lastly to my 6th great grandmother Maria de Villalobos on 11 February 1714 in Aguascalientes. From this couple I descend from two of their sons, Francisco Javier and Jose Agustin. Francisco Javier married Eugenia Ruiz de Esparza on 27 April 1755 in Aguascalientes. Jose Agustin married Rosalia Ruiz de Esparza (sister of Eugenia) on 3 June 1753 in Aguascalientes. Both Eugenia and Rosalia are daughters of Jose Miguel Ruiz de Esparza and Josefa Manuela de Chavez. Does anyone have information on the parents of Esteban Nieto and his wife Ana Rodriguez?

Thanks

Hola primos y primas,

I have a question for those of you who are researching this line: are Pedro de Castañeda and Jacinta de Sotomayor, also known as Antonio Jimenez de Castañeda and Jacinta de las Ruelas?

On p63 of his "Cartas," Don Jaime Holcombe says in the early Pinos index, listed are Pedro Jimenez de Castañeda and Jacinta Martinez de Sotomayor. I’ve never seen him listed as “Jimenez,” nor her as “Martinez,” but this would logically establish her as a child of Andres Martin and Maria de Ruelas. He also points out how, on some records, he is called Antonio Jimenez, and then he mentions another couple in the appendix, “Antonio Jimenez de Castañeda y su esposa, Jacinta de las Ruelas.”

From dispensations, we know that Jacinta de las Ruelas, married to Antonio Jimenez de Castañeda, was daughter of Andres Martin Camacho and Maria de Ruelas; are she and Jacinta de Sotomayor one and the same person, and would anybody have any information to verify this?

I don't descend from this line, but she is a collateral ancestor, and reconciling the 2 Jacinta's would clarify some things in my lines - and basically, rock my world.

Thanks for any assistance!

Maria de Ulloa with Francisco Villasenor 23 Sep 1630 Dispensa

In this dispensa there are two contreras mentioned of which I am searching the parents of Nicolas Contreras 1640 of Teocaltiche who married luebana and elvira luisa delgado tiscareno but the records do not have his parents.

Nicolas aside, this dispensa has the parents of maria de ulloa as mariana de ulloa vdo de Pedro (can't read the shorthand) and Francisco Contreras circa 1579 (there is a record in Tlaxcala for a francisco contreras born). the parents of Francisco Villa (not sure it is villasenor or something else) married to Beatris de Contreras. The following is the Dispensa

https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:9392-6XS4-KT

If someone with a much better eye can either confirm or correct the names that I think I read, I would be much appreciative. Oh and if you can include where they are from.

Mariana de Ulloa's familysearch ID is L2NH-VVF. There is a record of mariana and a pedro contreras married but it is in 1679 too late for this one, but it could be a mistake need to locate marriage record of 26 Augu 1679 to confirm it is correct date.

Thanks for the help, Simona

Research Digest, Vol 121, Issue 13

The word you are reading is "rasa" not "vasa." It is a term used in the
liempiza de sangre (purity of blood) documents where witnesses testify that
they know of no Jewish, Muslim or even Lutheran ancestry in the person's
family tree.
