Probably some of you already know about a book that has just been released about some sephardic families living in northern Mexico, here is a copy paste of the info:

En las instalaciones del Archivo General del Estado se llevó a cabo la presentación del libro "La Herencia Sefardí: familias y sus descendientes que vivieron en la parte más oriental del valle del Guajuco, lo que ahora es Allende, Nuevo León”, a cargo del coordinador del libro, Jorge Salazar Salazar y de la investigadora Mónica Montemayor Treviño.

Durante esta presentación que fue posible gracias al gobierno del estado de Coahuila y al archivo mismo, se contó con la presencia de un público que gusta de la historia, entre ellos, historiadores, genealogistas y estudiantes.

Lucas Martínez, director del archivo, dio la bienvenida a los presentes destacando la publicación a presentar como un gran logro de quienes intervinieron en la obra y cuyos resultados fueron los esperados y con el objetivo cumplido de haberlo realizado.

También adelantó que próximamente se presentarán nuevas publicaciones que engrandecen la investigación histórica de la región.

En su intervención, Mónica Montemayor destacó que este libro es el resultado de un proyecto que se realizó para que una familia tuviera la posibilidad de adquirir el certificado Sefardi, del cual orgullosamente puede mencionar se obtuvo gracias a esta publicación, en donde fueron varias personas que participaron en ella para su elaboración.

UNA COMPLETA INVESTIGACIÓN

"Es una obra de 608 páginas, que abarca a 1262 personas de quienes se detallan actas de nacimiento, matrimonio y defunción, es decir 185 árboles genelógicos graficados de manera descendente y lineal, al presentarse también la investigación familiar de las esposas y el modo en como se relacionan entre sí las familias”, comentó.

Se puede apreciar que la herencia sefardí existe en especial en pobladores que habitaron lo que hoy es Allende, Nuevo León, pero que también abarca áreas como Montemorelos, Linares, Villa de Santiago, General Terán y Monterrey, dijo.

Alex M and I have been collaborating on our early Nochistlan lines, going through partidas, dispensas and padrones. This is an edit of an email I sent him, regarding the Benavides-Cortes lines, and trying to reconcile some dispensas we’ve found with what Don Mariano Gonzalez-Leal has in “Retoños,” and with what Don Jaime Holcombe proposed in his “Varias Cartas.” Since many of us descend from these lines, I thought I might share it here.

My main objectives are:

1) To solve the “Geronima de Benavides Riddle,” determining which one was married to (A) Francisco Paez, which one was married to (B) Gonzalo Yañez and which to (C) Diego de Aguayo, and determining how each descends from Diego de Benavides;
2), To determine the pedigree of Catalina (or Catarina) Cortes, who was married to Juan Moscoso y Sandoval;
3) To determine whether Luis de Benavides was the son of Diego de Benavides (as per Retoños) or of his son, Geronimo de Benavides (as per various dispensas);
4) To determine how the Aramburu/Arambula descend from Diego de Benavides.

Here are 10 dispensas that I’ve picked through, with my notes. Please compare with your trees & notes: comments, corrections and insights are all welcome, this is an open collaboration. I am also working on Delgadillo de Frias, which I hope to post before summer’s end.

Questions:

I'm searching for the baptismal record of an ancestor and the book Baustimos 1805-1821 is missing years 1812-1820 starting at image 351. There are 3 records from 1814, 1 from 1815 and 1 from 1818 so it looks like no pages are missing, just content. Is anyone aware of where these records might be recorded or is this a loss cause?

I am trying to figure out the connection between the Roman Family and the Palomino family. I have found a marriage record that says the marriage took place in Chihuahua, MX and on the record it says Natividad Gonzales is from Aguascalientes. The record also mentions the partido Lerdo... is that the Liberal party? I am a bit confused and would appreciate some assistance with this record. If anyone can help me out with the translation that would be amazing. The record is for the marriage of Antonio Palomino and Natividad Gonzales.

Several days ago I tried to just say thanks a lot to Daniel Méndez Camino and Kathy Brecht for their job on Valladolid dispensas; for some glitch the message just didn't go into the cyberspace but here I go again, I'm really thankful because thanks to Daniel I finally found the origin of my 5th paternal grandparent, I'had waited for that for more than 10 years!!!
The mystery was finally solved by the dispensa gocen to my 5ths in the year 1748

I have been in search of my Grandmother's birth certificate. She was born in Guadalajara around 1934-1938, or so she thinks. Her mother died in Guadalajara in 1937 and left her an orphan to fend for herself and she was never ever able to find out her real birth date. I am pretty certain she was registered, it was pretty important to her family, every woman has been registered. I have located birth certificates since 1862 in the civil registries of Zapotlan del Rey where her family was originally located. The question is, does anyone know if there is a database i'm missing where I can look through the images for Guadalajara. I can't request is through the Gobierno website because I do not have an exact date.

My name is Lino Martin. I am the 12 descendent of Blas Martin del Campo tracing back to 1520 from Spain. I follow the lineage of Bartolome Martin del Campo who is the 1st to Nueva Galicia with two borthers. Bartolome settled in San Juan de los Lagos, Jalisco.

Of further interest, both my father and mother are descendents of Blas, 1st connecting with Manuel Martin del Campo, born in 1765. My mother's great-great grandfather and my father's grandfather were brothers. They say I turned out normal!

If that were not coincidence enough, my mother's mother is also a Martin. Her mother's grandfather is Rafael Martin, married to Maria de la Cruz Barba Franco from La Jolla, Jalisco. Well, it's a small world!

I am unable to trace Rafael back to his connection with Blas. I have posted a file with my findings. Any help connecting Rafael would be appreciated.

By the way, the existing files, emails and other content members have posted have been of great help filling in holes. I have many primos among you! Thank-you to all that have taken the time to contribute.

Well, after many years of searching I finally found a record that listed the names of great great grandparents. I am thrilled beyond and beyond.. :) It seems my great grandparents got married in church in 1949 and in Runge, Texas the marriage register lists their date and place of baptism for both my great grandfather and great grandmother. It states that Pilar Valdez was baptized in 1899 at San Miguel Mesquitic, mexico and Romana Tobar was baptized in 1889 Real de Pino, Zacatecas, Mexico. Her parents were Victor Tovar and Maria Guerrero. My problem now is trying to find those records. I have gone through the Zacatecas records in Family Search and found the town of Pino, but not the parish Real de Pino. Can someone tell me if I am even looking in the right place or where I could find this parish? Thanks in advance.

Luego que Isabel Abalos y Bernandino Abalos son Abuelos de los prentensos. Todo esto me tiene confundido. No se que es la Abuela/Abuelo de quien ,o Tomas es Fernando Cordero pero Tomas se caso con Maria Abalos y Fernando con Maria Bocanegra. Que piensas ,? Ojala me intiendes porque yo no intiendo .

Sabemos Que venían Con Españoles, sin embargo en muchos documentos Tanto Diego de San Martin y Juan Michel son nombrados como Portugueses, y hablantes de una lengua o dialecto extranjero, , sin embargo en aquel Tiempo los españoles tambien llamaban ¨Portugues¨ a alguien venido del Puerto o bien ser Extranjero, no precisamente Nacido en Portugal.

Recientemente he encontrado algunos datos que dan un pequeño giro a lo que todos sabíamos hasta ahora sobre el origen de nuestros Famosos Ancestros.

Existe un documento fechado en 1511, de un viaje a Indias de un par de Hermanos, a la isla de Puerto Rico llamados Juan Michel y Diego Michel (coincidentemente se llama Diego) según libros ellos Recibieron vecindades el mismo año en la isla y fueron encomenderos, en el caso de Juan Michel tuvo el cargo de Gobernador de Algunas ciudades como La isla de San German y San Juan (actual capital Boricua) al parecer estuvieron Muchos Años en aquellos lugares.

Otros Documentos Detallan sucesos Como la petición de una Licencia al Rey por parte de aquel Juan michel para llevar de Puerto rico a España a un Chico de 18 años llamado Cristóbal (coincidentemente se llama Cristóbal)en aquel documento detallan que es un Indio Naboria, sin embargo en otra petición de licencia detalla perfectamente y menciona y explica que Cristóbal el chico de 18 años no es indio, sino Español, tanto en aspecto, como en acento y que por ello debe viajar a España.

En lo personal Creo que hay muchísima coincidencia con los nombres y fechas y Podria ser posible que aquel Juan michel realmente fue tio de cristobal y cristobal hijo de Diego Michel ( Posible Diego de San Martin) quien También es padre de Nuestro Fundador Juan Michel, eso coincide con los datos de que Diego de San Martin y Elvira Ordoñez tuvieron 2 hijos Juan y Cristobal.
