Following the discussion last week regarding Geronimo Sanchez de Porras (Viejo) and his son, Geronimo Sanchez de Porras (Mozo); I was wondering if anyone had any information on the parentage of El Viejo. I did locate a burial record for Diego Sanchez de Porras which mentions that his executor was Geronimo Sanchez de Porras, his son.

It also mentions that Diego was Soltero, but I have found various documents stating this when the person was actually widowed.

Los padres de D. Beltrán fueron Diego de la Cueva (quien empezó a usar el patronímico Fernández) y Da. María de Solís y Ochoa.

Hubo debate sobre si los datos eran fidedignos (cosa valiosa, pues los documentos secundarios son siempre menos valiosos que los primarios). Pero tengo el placer de haber encontrado un documento de Ordenes de D. Andrés de Mora y de la Cueva., hijo de D. Diego de Mora y de Francisca de la Cueva.
México, Jalisco, Catholic...Church Records, 1590-1979>Guadalajara>Diócesis de Guadalajara> Capellanías 1642. En la imagen 153 que se encuentra en las Capellanías de 1642, pero escrito en 1661 se encuentra la ascendencia de D. Andrés. Ordenes de Andrés de Mora y de la Cueva:
"en quanto a los Padres de dha doña francisca de la cueba los conosio y comunico mucho tiempo en el pueblo de ahualulco donde eran vezinos i que supo que diego de la cueba su Padre y doña María ochoa su madre eran hijos de Juan de la Cueba Mendoza y de doña Francisca de Colio personas limpias y nobles abuelos de la dha doña francisca de la cueba..."

Encontre una copia del Acta de Defuncion de mi Abuelo Juan Castro originario de Barranca de Santa Clara, Jalisco donde dice que murio de bala y que fue enterrado en una fosa de 3ra clase en el Cementerio San Miguel. Tambien dice que fue herido de bala en una region llamada "las playitas" en el Municipo de Zacoalco de Torres. Mi pregunta es como o donde puedo encontrar mas informacion sobre su acesinato? si se investigo o no o si se juzgo a alguien?. Tambien me gustaria saber donde puedo encontrar una lista de los Cementerios del municipio. Desconosco donde queda el Cementerio San Miguel. Me gustaria buscar su tumba si es posible (no se que significa una fosa de 3ra clase).

Hello everyone, can someone please tell me if records ever existed for Apozol, Jalpa and Juchipila, Zac. prior to 1800. If not, did our ancestors have to travel to nearest town like Nochistlan for marriage, baptism etc...
As many of you already now, the records for these three places start about mid 1850's.

I am specifically looking into my Medrano Family, Jose Maria Medrano married to Maria Antonia Perez, the only children I was able to find were:
Feliciano Medrano (born about 1812 in Juchipila and died in 1886 in Jalpa) married to and Romana Macias and Maria Lucia Hernandez.
Pablo Medrano (born about 1817 in Juchipila)married to Maria Felipa Huerta

Both of their sons married and the families went back and forth between these three towns.

I found many Medrano Families in Nochistlan from that era, but I still have to make a connection.

I am researching a couple from Villa de Obregon (Canadas) named Ignacio Lomeli and Petra Villalpando.

Petra Villalpando is the daughter of Pedro Villalpando and Maria Guadalupe Casillas. Petra's siblings are Ignacia born in 1918, Bibiana born in 1920, Maria de Jesus born in 1922, Bartola born in 1925, Bacilio born in 1916, Francisco born in 1924, Reyes born in 1923.Petra villalpando Casillas was born in 1912. All these dates are according to the census in 1930.

I was unable to find the Villa Obregon church records online in family search. Are the Viila de Obregon, Jalisco records available online?

Greetings fellow history buffs, researchers and Sherlock Holmes types. I
feel privileged to become a member of this group. I became interested in
genealogy after my mother passed away in 2009 and I realized she was the
last person left from her family line. I know I felt empty and lost without
her and at the same time wondered where our cousins and the rest of our
ancestors. We talked about family when mother was alive, but, I never
really paid attention or really listened. I decided back then I had to find
the answers and perhaps connect with cousins I never knew. I've been
digging for five years now and have found many answers but with the answers
came the mysteries. So interesting how women were molded to think and how
the rules for proper anything were one sided. I spend to much time
researching, so I'm told. I'm like a detective who has to solve a mystery
that just keeps haunting my mind.

My family roots come from the state of Zacatecas and my roots are the Tello
family lineage. San Pedro Ocampo, Melchor Ocampo, Concepcion Del Oro,
Mezquital Del Oro, Bonanza, Cedros are just a few towns and church names
I've found along the trenches. One place I have not found information on is
"Rancho de Los Tellos" where some of my ancestors were born and married.
The men in the family worked the silver mines, so they moved around the
various towns to work. They also lived to the San Luis Potosi and Saltillo,
Coahuila; many were born and died in there. I found myself overwhelmed with
discoveries I never imagined would keep me awake at night. My detective
type mind swells with thoughts and solutions to these mysterious puzzles
called family roots. I know nothing about Mexico and the states my roots
came from. I read about Mexico and try to imagine my ancestors there during
the 1700-1900s. I now see how brave and hard working my ancestors were. I
could never survive those conditions and extremely hard work, what a
spoiled human being I am.

I am Yolanda Kline and hope that I will find more answers with the help of
this great meeting room.

I am not sure if the name is Jesus or Juan Antonio Vicente, ch. 26 Nov
1829, but I also have a hard time reading the parents names. I you could
help I really would appreciate it. Thank you.

I am looking for descendants of Rita Garcia de Sanchez and her husband Miguel Sanchez.i am trying to find Rita Garcias parents. I was hoping that descendants of theirs may have more information on Rita Garcia that may provide clues to his ancestry.

Miguel Sanchez (born 1882) and Rita Garcia (born abt 1883) were married and lived in Tepatitlan Jalisco, Mexico.

They have at least five children but I suspect they had more than that.

I have as their children :

Paula Sanchez Garcia born about 1904 married to Jose Maria Franco Gomez born in 1903

Agustin Sanchez Garcia born about 1913

Maria Sanchez Garcia born about 1915

Ysaac Sanchez Garcia born about 1917

Maria de la Luz Sanchez Garcia born about 1920

The national census has them residing in Tepatitlan Jalisco Mexico in 1930. In 1930 Paula Sanchez Garciawas already married to Jose Maria Franco.but the rest of the siblings that I have listed are shown as residing with the parents.

It is also explicity stated that Miguel Gutierrez and Ana Gonzalez Florida are siblings, so the top of the lineages are a pair of sibling who married another pair of siblings.

I figure I'd post this dispensa because of all of the many details it has. I have seen on many online trees that Geronimo is married to both Leonor Gonzalez de Hermosillo and Maria Ana Suarez de Ibarra. I also noticed the dispensa states that Francisco Gutierrez de Hermosillo married Juana de Carvajal. Is the use of this surname correct? I havent researched her but many trees show that her surname should be Lomelin or Benavides and she married Rodrigo Carvajal.

I have been working on an index for this film of Aguascalientes matrimonial investigations, which is nominally from the period 1733/34.

I am posting this note because the film covers time periods that are not at all obvious from the film title.

While many of the records are from the 1733/34 period, there are many for the period 1735-1758. This latter period is mostly indios, with very few mestizos and mulatos, but no Espanols, from the pueblos of San Marcos, Jesus Maria, Pueblo Nueva, and San Joseph de Grasia.

I am planning on posting this work in the Nuestros Ranchos reference material file, along with indexes for the other films of the 1730/1740 period, later this Fall.

I have been studying your family lines. I have three children for Don Jose Rafael VILLARRUEL and Dona Maria Antonia GALLAGA, the first of the three born about 1785. I do not have the other two wives for Jose Antonio Rafael VILLARROEL Castellanos, whose birth I was guessing was about 1755. I did not have his parents. Do you have parents for Don Maria Antonia GALLAGA?

The date of marriage for the second wife does not work at 3 Feb 1722. It was 1792?

Three of those children, Luciano, Sisto, and Serapio, had many children, some of whom immigrated to Los Angeles, CA between 1920 and 1923, most eventually settling in Santa Maria, CA. My husband is descended through Serapio Terrones.

Quiero compartirles un documento que descubrí gracias al trabajo de Katy Brecht Quesada en su índice de Ordenes Sacerdotales.

No estoy completamente seguro si este documento hace referencia a Juan Gómez Rubio, mejor conocido como Juan Gómez-García casado con María de Velasco, pareja que residió en Tecolotlán a mediados del siglo XVII.

Esta información que no parece ser para aspirar al sacerdocio, fue recabada el 10 de Julio de 1646 en el pueblo de Cocula. Francisco Martín solicita información sobre los padres de Juan Gómez Rubio, que por lo que alcanzo a entender el propósito de ésta tiene algo que ver con sus bienes.

Por la declaración de los tres testigos, se puede rescatar lo siguiente sobre la ascendencia de Juan: Que fue hijo de Alonso Gómez Rubio (originario de los Reinos de Castilla y que vino a la Nueva España en busca de Fray Martín Rubio, su hermano que vivía en el Convento de dicho pueblo) y de María Gómez, a su vez hija de María Moreno. Que para 1646 tenía 25 años por lo que debió nacer por 1620-21. También se menciona que Francisco Martín (quien solicita la información) y Constanza Martín eran sus hermanos y a la vez padrinos de su bautismo.
Sin embargo en ningún momento se menciona que fuera aspirante a Orden Sacerdotal, ni que fuera finado. Por lo que mi primer interrogante que no pude responder por ser poco legible la letra es ¿Porqué se levantó esa información? Ya mencioné que creo tiene algo que ver con los bienes de Juan Gómez Rubio. La respuesta a esta pregunta es para tener la seguridad que no fuera miembro del clero ya que eso descartaría que se pudiera tratar del Juan Gómez Rubio casado con María de Velasco.

De acuerdo a la fecha de nacimiento, es probable que se trate del Juan que vivió en Tecolotlán. Juan tuvo varios hijos pero el acta bautismal más antigua que se encuentra en el buscador de Familysearch es la de su hija Francisca, fechada el 27 de Agosto de 1667 en Tecolotlán. En ella él está asentado como JUAN GÓMEZ RUBIO.
