I have just uploaded a small portion of my genealogy, These are the Gonzales and Calvillo families.

The Gonzales' are in the area of Tapias and Ojocaliente, Aguas from about 1728 to 1887. As of yet I have not made the connection to the Gonzales de Hermosillo family. But I do have a direct line to that family as well.

The Calvillo families are from Texas, Asientos, Maguey, Huerta de Gil, Huerta del Rio, El Sauz, Tepesalilla, Aguascalientes with records from Calvillo and Aguascalientes, Aguascalientes also included is Villa del Refugio, Zacatecas. As far as I know they are not related.

ALL the geneaolgy films are listed in the catalog found on familyseaerch
along with where they can be found:
http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Library/FHLC/frameset_fhlc.asp. Copies of
ALL the films can be viewed by patrons in their local Family History Centers
without having to travel to SLC.

The vault refers to a huge storage area in SLC hewn out of a granite
mountain where the temperature is constant and the elements are kept at bay
in order to preserve the films. This is where all the master copies of the
genealogy films owned by the LDS church are stored.

When a film is requested by a patron, a copy is made and sent to the main
library in SLC where it remins -- or the local Family History Center if that
is who made the request, and after three renewals the film will remain in
the local center on indefinite loan as well. I suspect the three renewals
pay for the cost of duplicating the film.

In some cases no one has ever asked to use a film so a copy has never been
made to be viewed and the only copy is the master copy in the vault. Hence
it takes a few days to receive a film from the vault, and if you only have a
few days at the library, it can really impact your visit when the films
aren't available.

If you look at the familysearch website, it will tell you whether the films
are in the vault, which means no copies are available in the library.
However, as Josie mentioned, you can request that a copy be sent to the
library before making the trip.

02-Mzo-1734 en Tepatitlán, y tampoco se si Luis Navarro Gaytan tenia mas

I spoke with Sister Hayden at that number this morning and verified that
this is the correct number to call when ordering VAULT FILM to be viewed
there. She said to be certain and specify that you are part of a group of
genealogists who will be there doing research. Usually they limit their
requests to only 5 film at a time but she said they will order any amount
for us. (If you encounter any problems, please let me know because I have
another phone number that will assist us.) This is the phone number for the
International dept. (inside the little window where you pick up film) in the
basement where the Mexico and other international film are located.

Please be thinking about which film you want to order and order these well
in advance........like today! :-)

I have not received any email from Nuestros Rachos since the date of
your post below, and so I expect I will not receive any reply.

This really ticks me off. I got comcast partly because a previous
provider would not allow me to _send_ any email because they thought
mine was a spam address. The problem was my hard-wired verizon card ip
address was within a range some one else was using for spam, and there
was nothing I could do about it. They refused to do anything either
because they hired their spam blocking from another service and _they_
didn't want to help. The only other solution was to get another ip
address, which Nuestros Ranchos may be able to do quite easily since
it's probably software controllable. I hope this gets resolved because
I'm not getting any mail from Nuestros Ranchos.

I will call Comcast monday and try to voice my complaint to a live
person. But I'm not expecting much help. The same spam blocking
service is used by MANY providers in an attempt to control spam.

I do believe her father is Nicolas Ulloa. I also noticed in Nicolas de Anda
Sanchez's book that he listed a confirmation of a Teresa Ulloa who's parents
were Juan de Ulloa and Maria Ruiz de Esparza. The date of the confirmation
was 6 Jan 1654 in Teocaltiche, Jalisco.

The book I'm working on is my direct line that goes back to the early days of
Aguascalientes in a dictionary type format. More like a who's who. My
families are the Ruiz de Esparza, Romo de Vivars, Tiscareno's, Munos de
Hermosillo's to name a few.

correct Teresa Ruiz de Esparza... the records in Tlaltenango are simply
missing the Ulloa but the dates and names otherwise match. So you think that
she is the daughter of Maria Ruiz de Esparza and Nicolas Ulloa?

Does anybody have the referenced Teocaltiche film so that they can look up
the parents of these two spouses for me?

In Nicolas de Anda Sanchez's new book he has listed Teresa as Teresa Ulloa
Ruiz Esparza married Capt. Juan de Escobedo on 6 June 1669 in Teocaltiche.

In my book I'm working on, I have:

The daughter of Lope Ruiz de Esparza and Francisca Gabay. She married Nicolas
de Ulloa. Her parents were known residents of Aguascalientes from 1622 to
1652. She is mentioned in the requested marriage dispensation of her
granddaughter, Elvira de Ulloa to Joseph de Torres on 1 January 1689 in
Teocaltiche, Jalisco.

Hi "Dreamers"

I would like to make a couple of suggestions for your dream trip. I will not be making the trip since I was there last year.

Flying to Guadalajara and making it your starting point for the trip is an excellent idea. From Guadalajara there are several
ways you can go:

1.-Guadalajara, Yahualica (there is a good sea food restaurant right as you turn off the main road to go into Yahualica, their
specialty is "Pescado Sarandeado" ) Mexticacán, Nochistlán, Teocaltiche , Villa Hidalgo ( Villa Hidalgo is a big textile manufacturing
center. There is a huge shopping center in the middle of town where people from all over the country come to buy clothing for their
shopes or boutiques wholesale and retail. Good bargains can be found here). The town also has an excellent Chinese food restaurant
in case you get tired of Mexican food. Villa Hidalgo is almost half way between Teocaltiche and Aguascalientes. From Aguascalientes you'll probably want to continue north to Rincón de Romos and on to Zacatecas about 80 miles from Aguas. Zacatecas has an airport with daily scheduled
flights north in case you choose to return that way, but then, that would only be half the trip!

The return trip from Zacatecas, Aguascalientes and then on to San Juan de Los Lagos, Jalostotitlán ( here you can go to Santa Ana
and visit Santo Toribio, you don't want to miss this! ) Tepatitlán, (famous for it's "Carnitas") and Guadalajara. Instead of going directly into Guadalajara, the trip should take you Chapala and Ajijic. A beautiful, lush, green, place on the shore of Lake Chapala. Here, you are only about 30 miles south of Guadalajara.
2.- The other Option would be to fly into Zacatecas and start your trip from North to South or
3.- Fly to Aguascalientes and split your days. Two or three days to go north to Zacatecas and then the rest to go to Guadalajara and return to Aguascalientes, make it your "Home base" .

These are only suggestions...The members of the group making the trip should decide where, when and which way they want to go.
Planning is the key to any succesful and enjoyable trip. I am sure all of you will enjoy it and will have a lifetime of memories from it.

The Indigenous custom of using flowers sounds very beautiful. The lazo
which is a rather large rosary used for marriage ceremony is also very
meaningful in having Our Lady's blessing of the union.

This is an interesting article about the meaning and survival of some of

Mexican wedding traditions. The only thing that I disagree with is the

"lasso" - I heard that the indigenous had used flowers to encircle the
couple,
and this was substituted with the "lasso - rosario" with the Spanish

The Hispanic Conference in Salt Lake City will be held Friday, October 13th
and Saturday, October 14, 2006. There is no charge for any of the
seminars and you do not have to pre-register. All the presentations will be
in Spanish and the speakers are bilingual. The schedules will follow in a
separate e-mail.

1. Salt Lake Plaza Best Western Hotel has a limited number rooms for us at
$82.00 plus tax for a room for two persons. It is located next door to the
FHC Library. Their website is:

$39.32) for a single queen bed room and a rate of $49.00 plus tax (total
$55.05) for a
room with two double beds for 1 to 4 persons. Go to "Google" and type in
"Howard Johnson Express Salt Lake City" to see their facility. Their toll

"Ranchos Genealogy Group" for the special rate. They offer a FREE
continental breakfast (coffee, juice, bagels, cold cereal, etc) and they
are walking distance from the Library (about two blocks). There is a free
trolley that passes nearby and takes you to the Library if you do not want
to walk. This hotel is able to provide rooms for us for any number of days
you might need......provided reservations are made EARLY.

Both hotels provide shuttle service to and from the airport. Upon your
arrival at the Salt Lake City airport you can call 801-521-3450 for shuttle
service to Howard Johnson Express Inn. For those staying at the Salt Lake

Is anybody researching the Ruiz de Esparza family? I believe they are centered in Aguascalientes. I am specifically looking for the ancestry of a certain Teresa Ruiz de Esparza born circa 1600-1650 and married to Juan de Escobedo.

Josie, I'm not sure this is what you're interested in, but I was at the UTSA FHC this evening, and the librarian said he could make photos of microfilm entries for me there. On another subject, In April 2006 you responded to John on the subject of
viewers at the FHCs. You mentioned that you have learned to take photos of
the documents at the viewers using a mat board and that you needed to use a
tripod to steady the photo. How did that turn out? I tried this today at
the FHC but I must be doing something wrong because it did not work.......I
used a mini-tripod. Please let me know if you have had success doing this.

Me gusta investigar de genealogía, he investigado del área de Saltillo, Coah., pero también estoy investigando de mis otras líneas que son de los ALTOS DE JALISCO (Teocaltiche, Jalostotitlán, San Miguel el Alto, San Juan de los Lagos, Encarnación, Lagos de Moreno).

Las líneas que investigo y me interesan son: GONZALEZ, GONZALEZ DE HERMOSILLO, RAMÍREZ, RAMÍREZ DE HERMOSILLO, DE ANDA ALTAMIRANO, ALVAREZ TOSTADO, MORÁN DE LEDEZMA, VILLALOBOS, etc.

Me interesa también mucho investigar la línea genealógica de los hijos de Petronila de Moctezuma. En algunos apellidos tengo mi línea genealógica hasta 1545 aproximadamente.

Gaspar Macias Valadez married Mariana Torres in 1612 and they had:Nicolas Macias Valadez 1613, Blas Macias Valadez 1615, Polonia Macias Valadez 1617, Maria Macias Tavera or Vasquez de Retamosa 1620. Do anyone has a marriage for any of Gaspar and Mariana´s childen?

Gaspar Macias Valadez was the son of Nicolas Macias Valadez and Leonor de Retamosa, Mariana Torres was the daughter of Nicolas Ramirez and Polonia de Torres.
