The book of the Oral History of Baudelio Sandoval sounds interesting,
especially since it involves my old stomping grounds of Cucamonga,
Guasti, and Upland (in the '50's). Thanks for the information.

    Maria,

It seems you and Carol share the same
    Castaneda, since she descends
from Maria Eufrasia CASTANEDA TORRE daughter
    of Manuel Castañeda and
Maria Antonia de la Torre, married to Anttonio
    Casimirio CAMPOS LUNA
son of Juan Manuel CAMPOS SOTO and Maria Anttonia DE
    LUNA.

Here is my Castaneda Line, let me know if you recognize a
    name:
    1. Antonio DE CASTANEDA
      sp: Mariana PEREZ
      2.
    Aleanando DE CASTANEDA
        sp: Anttonia PEREZ (m.3 Aug
    1705)
        3. Christoval Manuel CASTANEDA PEREZ (c.1 Jan
    1709-
    Tlaltenango,Zac)
        3. Hernando Alfonso CASTANEDA
    PEREZ (c.11 Feb 1714-
    Tlaltenango,Zac)
      2. Luis DE
    CASTANEDA
sp: Ynes DE COVARRUBIAS (m.13 Jul
    1711)
      2. Antonio DE CASTANEDA

    Juan Antonio Liendo

Thanks for the info......I will certainly use your
recommendations!  Ma. Rita Guajardo is the daughter-in-law of this
couple......how did you know about her???   Thanks!

well its not anything as straighforward as that. . .it all depends if
this couple or one of the individuals left behind papers for someone to save and
whether they were important enough for someone to value and go to the effort of
    preserving them.

If you have a strong reason to believe that this couple
did leave behind papers and you just need to find them this is what I would
    do.

    1) narrow it down geographically where in Zacatecas they
    lived.

    2) contact the libraries closest to your families
    location.

    3) move outward from there searching and asking library by
libary if papers were saved on local individuals and families.

    4) ask
    the history

    Castañeda another cousin here

    Angie,
It appears that my line is from Diego de los Santos Castaneda & Maria Xacinta de Llamas. I use the word "appears" as I have a glitch down line. I have a paper trail leading to Marcos Castaneda & Lizara Contreras however, when I found their marriage record, Marcos led me to a different line.

Then the names of Marcos Castaneda & Lizara Contreras appear in the line of Diego de los Santos Castaneda. I am sooo confused, I need to go over years of research to attempt to decipher the mystery. So, thus the reason I have not posted the information.

Carol and I have been internet buddies for about 4 years now, and most recently have been attempting to find a connection with Eufracia Castaneda Torre. We share many surnames, but have not found a connection so, for now Carol and I are "internet cousins".

I will be happy to share the current information that I have, but need some time to put it in a better format. Perhaps then Joseph will find a link to the world of Castaneda's

Castañeda, de la Torre, Luna, and Ulloa from Tlaltenango

    Maria,

It seems you and Carol share the same Castaneda, since she descends
from Maria Eufrasia CASTANEDA TORRE daughter of Manuel Castañeda and
Maria Antonia de la Torre, married to Anttonio Casimirio CAMPOS LUNA
son of Juan Manuel CAMPOS SOTO and Maria Anttonia DE LUNA.

Here is my Castaneda Line, let me know if you recognize a name:

      2. Aleanando DE CASTANEDA

      2. Luis DE CASTANEDA
sp: Ynes DE COVARRUBIAS (m.13 Jul 1711)
      2. Antonio DE CASTANEDA
sp: Catarina GONSALEZ PONSE (c.29 Jun 1693-Tlaltenango,Zac;m.17

        3. Andrea CASTANEDA PONSE (c.25 Dec 1713-Tlaltenango,Zac)
sp: Blas DE HERRERA (m.2 Jun 1751)
        3. Mariana Efigenia CASTANEDA PONSE (c.12 Sep

More surnames we need to cross-check!!

    Carol,

Let me know when you get a chance to post your other lines. You only
currently have the Campos Line posted, right? Then I'll compare it
    to my files...

I do have all the surnames you listed in my files.

    Thanks,
    Angie

    Besides Campos and Castaneda: De La Torre(s); De Luna; Magallanes;
    Miromontes; Robles; Sanchez;Ulloa; Valensuela.

I think there are others too, but I want to go back through my

don't forget that Helyn Sparkman de Castaneda is also a Castaneda
    from
Tlaltenango, but we haven't be able to make that connection either.
    And
Steven Hernandez is a Miramontes from Tlaltenango. Isn't life
    grand?

Helyn is also a Luna - we discovered that we have an Herrera connection
from Tlaltenango and believe that we also have a Luna connection - we're still
    working on it.

Joseph, I will fax you the documents for your authorization to allow us to legally adopt you as a "primo hermano de primira clase". You are to be commended for organizing the "groupies". All of the family connections could not have been possible without you. Mil Gracias.
Saludos, Helyn - PS for reunion time, I am located in California somewhere between San Francisco, and San Jose.

I'm a Castaneda, Miramontes, Rodriguez (mostlikely) and Diaz from
Tlaltenango. . .unfortuneately I don't have a lot of info and trying to
make those connections with the 4 of yall might be somewhere down the
road as in months or even years. But I just wanted you all to know that
I might easily be your primo as well. . .might I suggest you make me an
"HP" in the mean time (honorary primo) and if we find the connection
we'll delete the "H" or if we find proof of "no relation" then we'll
remove both the "H" and the "P"? what do you all think, primas?

I misunderstood. I thought you meant there were no batch numbers for
the older records. For privacy sake to protect those that still might
be living they stop extracting at a certain point. I have heard 110
years so that would be from 1885 going forward or so, but I might be
wrong as I've also heard 90 years mentioned. The information is
definitely there on the films you can order but just not extracted.
What ever the years are that they say they cover will be found on film.
Just make sure to call ahead so you will be able to find them on the
    shelf.

ps: When are you going again. . .let me know offlist with this answer,
    okay?

    Alicia,

In reviewing the batch numbers to Nochistlan, there are many batch
numbers for Nochistlan, they go from 1627 to 1875. 1875 to about 1885
seems to be the magic cutoff years, for the extraction program.
