Phelipe Marquez de los Olivos

I recently found in the Guadalajara dispensas a record for the marriage of JOSE GREGORIO FLORES and MARIA AGRIPITA MARQUEZ. (Agripita was the great-granddaughter of PHELIPE MARQUEZ DE LOS OLIVOS and FRANCISCA XAVIERA SANCHEZ.) The record shows a tronco with the name of JOSE MARQUEZ who was the father of FELIPE MARQUEZ, who was the father of JOSE ANTONIO MARQUEZ, who was the father of FELIX MARQUEZ, who was the father of MARIA AGRIPITA MARQUEZ (la pretensa). The record also shows FELIPE's brother, FRANCISCO MARQUEZ, who was the father of MARIA JOSEFA MARQUEZ, who was the mother of JUAN ANTONIO FLORES, who was the father of JOSE GREGORIO FLORES (el pretenso).

The record can be found:

Volunteers NEEDED/Se Necesitan Voluntarios

Do you have a technical background? Have you worked on websites before or
would like to learn to do so? We are an all volunteer group and as such,
the maintenance of the Nuestros Ranchos site falls on just a couple of
shoulders that could use some help.

If you have any experience in programming, content management systems, MySQL
databases, your skills could be very valuable to the Nuestros Ranchos
community. The website is in dire need of some maintenance and updates and
unless we can get more volunteers, we may need to hire programmers to keep
the site alive. In the spirit of volunteerism this would be your
opportunity to give a little back and help us keep this group free from the
solicitation of financial support.

If you can help, please use the contact form to contact Arturo Ramos or send
an email to moderator [at] nuestrosranchos.org.

Baptism of Jose Lorenzo Chavez

I'm having a hard time trying to decipher exactly what my great-great-great grandfather's birth record says. I know the following information:
Some parts are easy to read, others are difficult. I feel I'm missing lots of information that I can't make out. Help would be appreciated. (Jose Lorenzo de Jesús was the father of Cenobio Chavez, who was the father of Bernardino Chavez.)
Thanks,
Bernie

Recording the Image Number from LDS online records, for my own records... Bad Idea ?

I have been reconcidering my practice of recording page numbers, entry number for the person (If given), and also the IMAGE NUMBER. I have started to wonder if this a bad idea due to the fact that there may be online updates which may move the entry to a different image Number.. your thoughts ?

Contreras and Velasco in Monterey

Hello,
I'm wondering if anyone has any information about Urbano Contreras and/or Josefa Velasco? Both were born around 1680-1690. I have found evidence that they or their descendants lived in southern Zacatecas and possibly in Guanajuato and Jalisco. It's possible that there are several couples with the same names around this time, but I believe that the same family moved around a lot.

Below is the baptism for one of their children, but I haven't found other online records for them in Monterey.

Thank you--Arturo

Orozco Moreno from San Diego de Alejandría

There is an Orozco Moreno family of which I am looking for their ancestors and cannot find them. Tha father is Jose Maria Orozco son of Manuel Orozco and Guadalupe Camarena and the mother is Mariana Moreno daughter of Juan Jose Moreno and Josefa Hernandez Gamino. Their four eldest children are baptized in La Inmaculada Concepcion, San Diego de Alejandria: Jose de Jesus (nov 2, 1803), Jose Ramon (march 9, 1806), Maria Felipa de Jesus (feb 16, 1809), Josef Felipe de Jesus (feb 16, 1809) and their last child Maria Francisca was bapt. in Señor de la Ascencion at Union de San Antonio on dec 12, 1811.I have grandchildren and great-grandchildren but havent been able to find the parents or grandparents origin or beyond that. I have their info only because it is stated on the baptism records.

About their children :Jose de Jesus Orozco Moreno married Maria de la Merced Hurtado (daughter of Domingo Hurtado and Crus Marques) and had Maria Petra Orozco Hurtado at Union de San Antonio in 1836 whom got married to Ramon Gascon Centeno (son of Antonio Gascon and Maria de la Concepcion Centeno) in 1851, they had 5 children.

Josef Felipe de Jesus Orozco Moreno married Geronima Espinoza and had Maria Reyes Orozco whom got married to Eufracio Hurtado (son of Ysidro Hurtado de Anda and Rosa Maria Noberta Muñoz Marques) in 1862, and had 4 children.

Hope someone has info about them.

about the pedro cid caldera and his wife maria carrillo

i've seen several family trees showing maria carrillo also also being his niece. how was this connect made. I can't seem to find any document showing who maria carrillo's parents are.

I'm skeptical about her being pedro's niece since if i remeber correctly, marriages between uncle and niece weren't allowed.

Joseph and Tricia:

Delgado, Chevarria, Martin Chaves

I'm reguesting a lead on Bartholome Delgado and Francisca Merquelin Chevarria my 9th Great grandparents. They married on April 3, 1701 in Pinos, Zacatecas. I have their marriage dispensation that provides their parents names Francisco Delgado and
Petra Martin Chaves and Francisco Merquelin Chevarria and Juana Delgado y Valensuela.

Marriage Dipensation Guadalajara, Diocesis de Guadalajara, matrimonios 1700-1705 Source number 168605/159-162.

Through information from Nuestros Ranchos I also have validation that when widowed Francisco Delgado married Juana Delgado y Valensuela in 1700 at Pinos, Zacatecas.

I would appreciate help in finding documentation to continue my tree!

Santa Fe RR Section Houses

Do any of you have parents or grandparents raised in the section houses of
the Santa Fe RR during the 1920s to 1950s in San Bernardino or Riverside
Counties? These would have included San Bernardino (4th St), Verdemont,
Keenbrook, Cajon, Summit, Hesperia, Oro Grande, Hodge, Barstow, Redlands,
Menifee, Box Springs, Riverside (not an exhaustive list). Spurred by a
reference to the section workers in the latest Somos Primos, I've decided
to use the family info I've already collected, supplement it, and write at
least one article to document this short-lived way of life. My parents
grew up in the section houses and most of my male relatives for two
generations worked at some time for the Santa Fe. There is little to
nothing written about life in the section houses, and photos are rare.
Unfortunately, most families were too poor to own a camera and those that
did were not thinking of documenting their housing.

If you have any stories or photos to share, please email me. Thanks so
much.
