Can someone help me out with the following.
I am having a hard time reading a birth certificatea from mid 1800's, I was under the assumption "hijo Natural" is a child born to a single mom!

what is the difference between:

Hijo Legitimo de - to - Hijo natural de
on both terms parents are listed as a couple.
In other cases the name of the baptised is listed followed by the term "Natural"
and then the name of the parents.

What would eliminating everyone who doesn't log in once a year
accomplish? Instead of a group researching and sharing information
about ancestors in the Jalisco area of Mexico, would this then morph
into a small group whose members live in California and can meet at
restaurants for a monthly luncheon and exchange of information on
their relationship to Moctezuma? Some of us lurkers keep tabs on the
information online until something that pertains to our research
comes up and we can participate.

By all means continue your luncheon meetings. They sound like fun.
But don't kick the rest of us off because our line of research hasn't
come up for a while. We keep reading, enjoying others information
and breakthroughs, and hoping a little smidgeon of information on our
lines will come across to allow us to participate in the
discussions. When they do, you'll hear from us.

Until then, I'll monitor the discussions unless I'm kicked off for
not belonging to the current line being researched and discussed.

I'm thinking of something and would like some feed back on it.

I'm thinking of making it mandatory to login to the actual website once
a year or your membership will expire.

I would think that visiting the website once a year would be something
that we could all do without a problem. It would also help me to weed
out members that truly are not active on the group. I'm not wanting to
hold the membership up to some artificial number.

what do you all think? Would it be to much to ask all members to log
into the group once a year?

My vote for "Open for discussion" is that once a year seems fair to me.

Thank you so very much for opening up this wonderful website! I have learned so much about my ancestor's and am constantly learning new things. We have a wonderful group of very informed and helpful members.

I don't agree with the last email about this only being a California group. Since I have joined I have noticed people from a variety of states. This is just as the forum say's just a topic that is open for discussion. I don't like when people get nasty or negative. Let's work together to make it work for all of us! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK JOSEPH AND STAFF!!

I just went through the films for Zacatecas and wondered if there is a way to put the film numbers in order by catagory and sequence? It would help to keep us from entering duplicate film or batch numbers.

Joseph, when I get into the Nuestros Ranchos site it acknowledges me by name unless I'm on a different computer then it asks me to sign in.. Does this site record or show how often we are actually into the Nuestros site? If it does then those who use the site would not have to do anything special and you would have a record of who has not used the site for the last year... or am I over simplifying it?

Arreola/Villarreal/Bermea/Trevino Except where otherwise indicated, all were born in
Gigedo/Rosales/Villa Union (same town) Coahuila.

I also have had a question about Puerto vs. Puesto vs. Puerta.

On my husband's gggg-grandmother's (Maria Maxima Duron Reyes) birth record (can be viewed only in IGI-submitted by a member after 1991) her birth place is listed as Puerto del Marquez, Aguascalientes, 1792. I was able to obtain a copy of her original marriage record for 1814 on a microfilm for Rincon de Romos--"en la capilla del Rincon") and it says "originaria y vecina de la jurisdiction de Aguascalientes en el puesto del Maguei". She was 22 years old, putting her birth year at 1792. The groom (Patricio Martin) was living in the Hacienda de Pavellon, age 19.

The IGI also lists her baptism record on film 0299449 that I haven't sent for yet. She was christened on 11 SEP 1792 in El Sagrario, Aguascalientes, Aguascalientes. I am wondering what birthplace will be given in that record.

When I tried to find either mentioned birthplace in Aguascalientes on MSN Maps, the closest listing I get is Puerta del Llano, Aguascalientes. Could these Puerto/Puesto really be Puerta de ----? What does "Puerta de" mean in relation to a town? All I can think of in English is "gateway to". Is there a map that shows Puerto/Puesto/Puerta del Marquez/Maguei?

I'm tracing the line of Leonor Cortez Moctezuma, the daughter that was never recognized by his mother Isabel Moctezuma. I have found some records about she was married with Juan de Tolosa, but in others mention that she was married first with Crist?bal de Valderrama, infact the line that goes to Petronila de Moctezuma comes from this one.

The word that sometimes looks like "puerto," when identifying the place
where the person in question lived, is "puesto." While it can literally
mean "place" or "position," it also translates to a "post" or "station,"
which is what I have assumed to be the appropriate use here -- perhaps
similar to the Pony Express stations or railroad depots of America's western
frontier in the 1800s? I'd be interested in learning more.

I have ancestors from the ranch El Papalote in San Juan de los
Lagos through my Maternal Grandmother, Juana Padilla, but I believe it
is through her Gutierrez or Padilla lines. I'll double check with my
mother.

I would like to know if anyone has any information regarding el RANCHO
EL PAPELOTE IN JALISCO. My grandmother was from there. I don't know if
that would belong to San Julian Jalisco or San Juan de Los Lagos
Jalisco. My grandmother Camila Estrada was from that area. I can't
seem to find anything on the web regarding this rancheria. Can anyone
help?

I have been doing research on my fathers family (Asebes) since June 03. Now I have run into a brickwall with Ricardo de Asebes and his wife Ana Maria de Hortis. They are my 4th great grandparents. I cannot find any information about them in the Familysearch program. I have copies of their son, Dionicio/Leonicio (my 3rd great grandfather) and their daughter Maria Quirina, marriages, where it states that they were married (each 2 times) in Nochistlan, Zac. His marriages were in 1799 and 1804, and hers in 1803 and 1820. It also says that he was "originario del Puerto del Arroyo Hondo". We cannot read where she was from. My husband is from Tonala, Jal. and helps me translate. On those records are the names of Ana and Ricardo only, no grandparents. Also I cannot find any birth/baptismal records for Dionicio or Quirina. I would appreaciate any help.
I am also trying to figure out how to submit my Family Tree.

My grandmother "CAMILA ESTRADA" was born around 1894 en EL PAPELOTE JALISCO. She resided in Canadas de Martinez with my grandfather CELSO VAZQUEZ he was 25 years her senior. My great-grandmother and grandfather LUCIO AND LUCINA ESTRADA I am assuming were from EL PAPELOTE. I don't have any information regarding my grandmothers and don't know if EL PAPELOTE would belong to San Julian or San Juan de Los Lagos Jalisco. I don't have any other information regarding my grandmother other than she passed on around 1937, I would like to know more about the rancheria and where these people orginated from. My dad was orphaned very young and does not remember very much about his parents. Any information would be very much appreciated.

for those of you thinking of using your digital cameras at family
history centers instead of their copying equipment here is a short
course on that subject. I would recommend making the transition to
digital because I for one have gone from taking just a very few select
copies of records when I was sure the record was a family member to
taking copies with my camera of all that I was even vaguely suspicious

If your grandfather was baptized in a catholic church, the records are
definitely as detailed as those in Mexico. The listing of great-grandparents
was a requirement under some sort of council and was mandated by the Vatican
beginning in 1810 or so.

Do you know what parrish in Laredo your grandfather was baptized in?

Do you have Arreola(Arriola) and Villarreal from COahuila?

My ancestor Francisco Javier Desiderio Arriola was born in Monterrey in 1707 but moved to Saltillo
and married there and raised a big family that spread over the rest of the state. I have interesting information on his father Desiderio Arriola.

My information is in the Gedcom files. I also stuck on one of my Villarreals. A Josefa Villarreal who married CLemente Ancira de Perez about 1725.
