Joseph, that is great that you found this record, what a find....I think
some answers for me also lie in Tepetongo in the mid 1700's.  I'm
going to study my research log and probably order some films from that
area.  I found that Vital baptized a child in Tepetongo but also in
SM and Cololtan.  It would be interesting to find out why they moved
around so much back in those days, possibly their occupation, way of life.
I'm going to check through all those batch numbers that you sent me for
these films first for Tepetongo.

Well this last couple brings up a good point: Matrimonio Dispensas

If this couple were possibly related and needed special permission
to

get married it is possible for up to 4 generations

ps: Roberta. I was wondering if you could transcribe what is in the

info when it can be found. Can you type it out so we can read that
section better and then give us a few words? thanks.

hey Maybe you can convince your Cousin Steven Hernandez to send us a all
a lesson about how he has used the Matrimonio Dispensas in his genealogy
work. We all could only hope to one day achieve a small portion of what
he has found in his genealogy.

Welcome to the group.

thanks for telling us your genealogy. there are a couple of people here
working on Villegas but I don't know if their Villegas are the same as
your Villegas.

So here's what I'm understanding:

your great grand parents are:

Teodoro Rosales (dob: _____ place of birth______) and Tomasita Villegas
(dob: ________ Place of birth ______)

children:

1) Porfiria Rosales (dob:_____ place of birth _____) married Rosendo
Montes (dob:______ Place of birth:_______)

try to give just a little more information so we can see if they are
from the same areas of Jalisco or Zacatecas that we are researching.
Especially the place of birth. We can kind of guess the dates of birth
some time in the mid to late 1800's but the place of birth is important.
Sometimes all the Villegas from certain little Ranchos were "ALL" related.

Also do you have any place and dates of death for the great grandparents
(if this applies)? Any places of marriage? Do you use the LDS Family
S

Today I found the parents of my GGG grandparents: Felipe Santa Maria y
Benita Miranda in Tepetongo, Zacatecas.

Felipe's parents were: Jose Salome Santa Maria y Maria Francisca Ortiz

Benita's parents were: Gabriel de Miranda y Maria Nicolasa Miranda

Well this last couple brings up a good point: Matrimonio Dispensas

If this couple were possibly related and needed special permission to
get married it is possible for up to 4 generations of their genealogy to
be waiting in a "Matrimonio Dispensa" So since this is in the late
1700's when this couple got married its possible with one record to
maybe get shotputted right back into the 1600's

So if you see any same surname marriages in your genealogy think of a
possible blessing waiting to be revealed to your genealogy.

Kitty. . . Do you have any comments on this?

joseph

ps: its 3 am and i'm off to bed. More on Matrimonio dispensas later. Ask
me about it in the group if you want to see it sooner than later.

Gene's as in Genealogies.

This is a request for more of you to provide your genealogies so we can
make some serious comparisons.

Afterall that is kind of what i was hoping for when I started the group.
for a place where we can share our Genealogies and possible make some
connections. for a place where we can share info on the different things
we've learned. you know share of ourselves in hopes that what goes
around comes around. . .good things have to happen if we research as a
group.

joseph

ps: now some of you might not have some of those fancy programs for
inserting your work (for less than $50 you can get the bare bones
version of Family Tree Maker 10). But never fear just put it down
something like this.

Rodrigo Rodriguez (dob: 1892) married Chavela Vela (dob 1895) they had
the following children:

1) Hector (dob: 1915)
2) Dulse (dob: 1916)
3) Cariño (dob: 1917)
4) Suavecito (dob:1918)
5) Eleuterio (dob: 1919)
6) Titere (dob: 1920)

Hector above married so

Hi Evie and Everyone,

Just wondering what info you have on Juan Jose Leaños and Maria Amaya?
Do you have a marriage certificate? Do you happen to know if he was
either before or after married to a Maria Antonia Ledesma?

If so then we might be cousins. . .my ggggg Grandparents the parents of
Miguel and Maximo Leaños are Juan Jose Leañps amd Maria Antonia Ledesma?

what do you think? Close enough or no cigar?

joseph

Hello my name is Juanita Hinojosa aka Janie. I recently found this
site and felt I had check it out. I am researching the Rosales
surname. I don't have much information other than my
greatgrandparents names were Teodoro Rosales and Tomasita Villegas, I
don't have anything information on them. Their daughter (my
grandmother) was Porfiria Rosales whom married Rosendo Montes(z)son
of Desiderio Montes(z) and Francisca ?
Porfiria was born in Zacatecas, anyone reconizing these names please
email me at Janie9559@.... Thank you.

Well we're at 22 members and as we get larger the volume of the group
might be a little much for sum. I would like to suggest for everyone
to keep in mind that there is a Digest version of the list to help
keep your inbox clutter to a minimum.

Also if anyone is unable to access the files or the messages its
probably because you haven't registered. Free and fast.

email me at makas@... for help with this.

joseph

ps: when you all are ready (no rush) just jump right in and introduce
yourselves and please do give us the surnames you're researching in
what specific areas of Jalisco and Zacatecas.

thanks

Is anyone doing any research in Teúl, Zacatecas? I've been asked to
research José Guadalupe Castro married to Cenobia Rivera in that
rancho about 1870's.

I would like to see a map of Cuquío, Jalisco if possible. Thanks.

How many of you all are using WorldCat? If you just said, "what the heck
is WorldCat?" then you need to learn about this terrific information source
to do InterLibrary Loans. Call your local library and see if they have access
to WorldCat and if you can access it from home via the Libraries subscription.
I just found this great resource that some of you might want to do an ILL
on if you are having any trouble with the spelling of some hard to read first
names of original documents:

Hispanic first names : a comprehensive dictionary of 250 years of Mexican-American usage / Richard Donovon Woods 1984 English  Book xviii, 224 p. ; 25 cm. Westport, Conn. : Greenwood Press, ISBN: 0313241937 (lib. bdg.)

Ownership:	Check the catalogs in your library. Libraries that Own Item: 347  Connect to the catalog at NCSU Libraries
More Like This:	Search for versions with same title and author | Adva

I just added a URL to the "links" section that goes to nice place to
find Mexican maps. . .not very detailed but nice maps none the less. . .

joseph

Today I went to Duke University to make a copy of a map that includes
Lagos de Moreno on it. Unfortuneately the library was closed because of
Spring Break. So I'll have to delay in getting this Map Scan to the
Group. . .but since I will be going again in the next couple or three
weeks are there any others in the group that would like their area
scanned for the group? I already have three maps in the "files" section,
but if you don't see your area just let me know and I'll try to cover
that area next time I go.

Joseph

Just in case some of you missed this. I'd like to encourage you all to read
the following info found on the website and consider donating your DNA. The
only requirement is that you have compiled at least 4 generations of your
family history. But I think this starts with you as the first generation.
We might be able to find that we are related genetically even if we can't
prove it genealogically.

http://www.smgf.org

Here is the gist of it:

"Once enough data will be collected, analyzed
and correlated, findings from this research will be made available for genealogical
research. Individuals interested in learning more about their family history
will need to submit an inquiry and a DNA sample in the mail, regardless of
their previous participation in the study (the DNA sample submitted for the
database will NOT be used to answer personal questions). This new sample
will be compared with the data
