Jose Cresencio Bugarin

Recently someone asked a question regarding Cresencio Bugarin from Atolinga Zacatecas. I can’t find the comment anymore but here is what I found: Jose Cresencio Bugarin, born in the “rancho de Laguna”, born 19/April/1880 baptized on 26/April/1880 in Atolinga, Zacatecas. He is the son of Marcial Bugarin and Maria Huerta, paternal grandparents are Julian Bulgarian and Bacilia Hermosillo, maternal grandmother is Juana de Huerta . His civil record names him Cresencio, while the baptismal record on that same date names him José Cresencio Bugarin. Marcial also had children with Maria Weneslao Huerta. The two Marias are not the same person. Marcial Bugarin had children from at least three relationships. The proof that the two Marias are not the same person is that they each have different parents. Locating a Testamento in the Zacatecas Archives

There is a list of notarial documents from Zacatecas on this website that were translated by Jaime Holcombe. One referred to a "testamento" in Zacatecas for a Margarita Tinoco. Does anyone know how to obtain or view the actual document online instead of the summary of it? Thanks.

Have you looked in the archives of Guadalajara? Don’t forget: Zacatecas was part of the Kingdom of Nueva Galicia during the viceroy period, whose capital was Guadalajara, and some of its historical archives are available online. These archives are not indexed, so you’ll have to go through the individual rolls of film.

Here are the testamentos, 1500-1895: https://www.familysearch.org/search/catalog/130231?availability=Family%…

And here are the notary archives. Some testamentos, codicils, and probate records can be found among them:
1583-1674: https://www.familysearch.org/search/catalog/198356?availability=Family%…
1606-1903: https://www.familysearch.org/search/catalog/35680?availability=Family%2…

Here’s another resource that I came upon that I found useful for at least one of my ancestors, it’s an archives of testamentos and probate records from 16th century Zacatecas: http://ru.juridicas.unam.mx/xmlui/handle/123456789/9366

Thank you, Manny. This opens up a new world for me. I was feeling so discouraged lately. I have ancestors in the Cd, de Durango in the early 1600s and it became obvious they were mixing with people from Zacatecas. It seemed logical that they too would come from there, but the church records didn't go back far enough on Familysearch. Some of the surnames with connections to Zacatecas were Tinoco y Tello, Ortiz de San Pedro, and Valle. The surnames Tello and Valle appeared in a link to one of the the testamentos from UNAM that you sent. I have a lot of work to do!

Thank you, but a testamento (a will)  is a notarial record and not included in church records. Familysearch only had a phone number for the Zacatecas historical state archive. I was hoping there is a way to view or order archive items online. Some American universities have Mexican archives, but so far I haven't been able to find any. I am finding that it's impossible to find Zacatecas church records for the early 1600s. Has anyone out there had any luck finding those?

Jose Jesus Najar b.1760 Jalostotitlan

I am getting stymied with Jose Jesus Najar(b1760), father Manuel, mom Maria Gertrudis, married Maria de los Dolores 1780 Jalostotitlan.  I am finding multiple surnames for the mother and wife.  If anyone can help me keep moving back I would appreciate it.

Looks like the name is JOSEPH DE JESUS NAJAR SANCHEZ and he married Maria de los Dolores Moya Y Plasencia on 05 FEB 1780 at Nuestra Senora De La Asuncion, Jalostotitlan, Jalisco, Mexico, and his parents were MANUEL NAJAR and MARIA GERTRUDIS SANCHEZ.

  https://www.familysearch.org/tree/pedigree/landscape/MTLL-1TK

Maria de los Dolores Moya Y Placencia has parents named Manuel Moya and it seems like the mother's first name, "Maria Gertrudis", is assumed ...but her surname "Plasencia' appears to carry forward when mentioned in other children and grandchildren birth records.  The mother's name "Maria Gertrudis" is mentioned in the marriage record but it could be a transcription error since the grooms mother's first name is also "Maria Gertrudis".....  Anyway, there it is...hope it helps.

Comment

as you will note when following mexican genealogy there is a lot of flexibility in using either the mother's or the father's surname.  it is not atypical to see that, sometimes they would use the surname of the mothers ONLY since the father's surname is assumed in the childs name..... really quite annoying..

what makes it look valid is the chidlren and grandchildren records where the surnames are mentioned.  ..... however, you are correct .. I am not sure if the Plasencia name is valid...  or if somehow it got conflated into the the tree...

Translation help

In this document is my 3rd great grandfather Jose Dolores Jimenez. There is two separate pictures because the document was found on two different pages. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

José Dolores Jiménez (single, 21 years old, from Pinos and legitimate son of José Guadalupe Jiménez and Juana Martínez) and Tomasa Rodríguez (single, 15 years old, from Rancho de la Milpa and natural daughter of Estéfana Rodríguez) were married in the chapel of the hacienda of los Campos on May 22, 1865.

Saucedo, Udabe & Lopez de la Cerda of Teocaltiche, Jalisco

Hello everyone, My name is Cynthia Saucedo & I am a descendant of Juan Zacharias Saucedo Udabe.  I see there are posts on Nuestros Ranchos that are over 10 years old from other descendants of the Saucedo, Udabe, Lopez de la Cerda family line.  If anyone researching this family line is still active on this website I would like to collaborate.  It seems there is a brick wall with the grandparents of Juan Zacharias.  I am researching the Saucedo/Udabe/de la Cerda line from Teocaltiche, Jalisco.  Christoval Saucedo married Feliciana Udabe López de la Cerda around 1711.  There is no marriage record for them.  I have not been able to find any sources with the names of Christoval Saucedo’s parents nor have I been able to find any siblings of Christoval Saucedo. The parents of Feliciana, his wife, are Isidro Udabe & Rosa Manuela Lopez de la Cerda.  There is no marriage record for them however, their children are listed as legitimate children in each of their marriage records.  I have not been

It shows Gabriel Saucedo & Petronila Mendez as Christoval Saucedo's parents, but I have not seen any sources to support the relationship.  I've gone through all the attached sources for each of Christoval & Feliciana's children & I have not seen the name Gabriel Saucedo for Petronila Mendez mentioned in any of them.  I was hoping to find a baptismal record or marriage with either the paternal grandparent's listed or a lead for another name I could search but I have had no luck.  I descend from Juan Zacharias Saucedo & have been working on his branch of the tree as well as his sibling's branches. The records online for Teocaltiche, Jalisco appear to be incomplete during the 1600 & 1700's.  I haven't been able to find a death record for Christoval.  I have looked at the dispensa's & did not find one for Christoval & Feliciana.  I am struggling on finding sources/documents that will help me to continue researching Christoval Saucedo & Feliciana's parents and their parent's, etc.

It would be best if you provided some other names....such as parents or spouse or chidlren.   Is the first name JUAN ZACARIAS?  And the surname Sauedo Udabe?   What date range are we asking about for this individual?  about what year was he born?  died?

Help finding lost dispensa

There is a dispensa that I misplaced notes or more likely didn't take notes on it. It lists two brothers: one Bernardino de Isla and the other Bernardino de Sandoval. From what i recall, the visual writing makes it liking between 1700 and 1750, and the relationship was in the narrative form within a paragraph (not separate from paragraph and listed line by line) and likely on the first page. The location was likely either Nochistlan, Teocaltiche, Tepatitlan, or Jalostotitlan.

I have tried searching the dispensas again, but have not found it, which makes me think it might be from a marriage information or from some other location.

I found this interesting info for a Bernardino with similar name..... seems to me he married his first cousin looking at the tree.  Not sure if it was what you were looking for but quite interesting with common names.

Marriage was like 1835 so the years are off but it seemed like you were relying on memory for the 1700-1750 date range anyway.

Sorry I cannot help. I usually input all dispensas on my tree and I am interested in those surnames so I would have done it if I had found it. I didn't find those brothers on my tree.

Comment

I am pretty certain that it said they were brothers.

I do not descend from whoever the marrying couple was nor descend from the people up the line through the Bernardinos, so I didn't pay much attention to the dispensa other then notice that it had two brothers having the same name (uncommon, but not unheard of during that time and prior).

Comment

Are the two Bernardinos in the original post the same two that were baptized together on 6 July 1648 in Nochistlán? The baptismal record states that one was the son of Nicolás de Sandoval and Magdalena González. The other Bernardino was an hijo de la iglesia whose compadres [padrinos?] were Nicolás de Sandoval and Magdalena González! I have wondered if the second one was also a son of Nicolás de Sandoval. They are all listed together on the 1649 padrón for Nochistlán.

Comment

I have thought the same thing. After i bought The Altos de Jalisco: Padrones book and saw that the Bernardino de Isla and Mariana de Sandoval household had 3 other Bernardinos, I immediately thought about the dispensa that i had seen earlier.

New to the site

Greetings,

I am new to the site and recently began researching my grandparents (Pedo Araiza and Elena Rodriguez), both who passed before I was born.  Both migrated to the U.S. and ran a restaurant called the Texcoco Inn (Houston, TX). Found a couple of articles about them from the Sig Byrd archives (writer in Houston) but not much else of their families in Mexico.

Go to the tree below and you can start filling it in even more.  One of those border crossing cards even mentioned the restaurant EL TEXCOCO INN... added it as a source to Elena profile.....   https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:2:77TD-HR9D-T?i=1285&cc=19160…

anyway...I tied it together a little but you can go in there start tracing backwards.... you can see the potential grandparents and whatnot....go look and have fun filling in the gaps..

ps- that little chart you posted really helped in getting going...

Many thanks for the information.  I did find that he worked in San Antonio at the Bismarck Cafe just across from the Alamo. The time had to be before 1918 because on the outset of WWI the owner changed the name. Thanks again.

Hello Ken,

I looked up your grandfather’s marriage and baptismal records.  What popped out was that he is living in Texas in the same area where I did research on QB Tony Romo’s great grandmother, Bexar Texas.   Pedro’s grandparents are listed in his baptismal record.

Good luck in your research Ken,

Ansurez/Onsures/Unsures

Hello Everyone,

I was hoping to find out if anyone has any variation of the aforementioned names in their family history. I have had a challenging time finding information on my mother’s side of the family beyond GG grandfather Ladislao Ansures and a GGG grandfather Ciriaco Ansures. I believe there may be a connection to a sibling Simon, and i think they ultimately resided in Chihuahua. I find the names fascinating, though! Thank you for any information or suggestions!

Hello. Yes, those names are indeed attached to my tree on ancestry, but I haven’t been able to move beyond that.  As I stated above, I am interested in hearing if there are others with those names in their tree as the last name seems a bit unusual.  Forgive me if I wasn’t as specific as I needed to be for those reading the comment.  Thank you, and good luck in your research as well!

You asked for help yet you didn’t provide any information that could possibly help identify them as a spouse.   Was Ladislao married to Maria de Jesus Chavez?   Was Ciriaco married to Maria del Refugio Jimenez? Was Simon married to a woman surnamed Trujillo?

Good Luck in your research

Jose Rafael Orozco's wives

Has anyone found the marriage of Jose Rafael Orozco/Orosco and Maria Guadalupe Vargas/Bargas?  Most likely in San Miguel el Alto, 1810-1817.

Is the Rafael Orosco that married Maria Ignacia Martin in 1824 the same Rafael Orosco that married Maria Guadalupe Bargas?  Ma Guadalupe died in 1822.  Her son, Jose Bitor Orosco Bargas has paternal grandparents listed in his baptismal record as:

Jose Alejo( Bargas) y Orozco and Maria de San Juan Hernandez

The Rafael Orozco/Maria Ignacia Martin line seems to be well researched, but I have not come across mention of a Ignacia being a second wife.

Any confirmation that I am coming to the correct conclusion that these is the same Rafael Orozco would appreciated.

just follow the tree and click on the individuals.    go take a peek.  see what you think  both wives now on marriage tree.  Guadalupe Bargas died giving birth to Jose Bitor ... record shows she died giving birth - "mal parto" (bad childbirth)   https://www.familysearch.org/tree/pedigree/landscape/GQHL-Q2S

If you look at the record for his marriage to Ygnacia it mentions that his first wife was buried at the "Iglesia de San Migule" 2 years earlier.
